“Is that…?” She looks at me hopefully.

“That's everything you should know about me and the club. I’ll get you away from here, take you wherever you wanna go, but if you decide you want to be with me, you should probably know the worst of it first.” Alex takes the file and tucks it back into the saddlebag.

“Father already made sure I read it. Figured he thought it would put me off if nothing else.”

“And…?” I ask.

“I packed a bag, didn’t I? I meant what I said, Squealer, I love you. I know I probably shouldn't, and for once in my life, my future feels so uncertain, but I figure I don't care what job I’m working or where I’m living so long as I get to do it with you.”

I pull her onto me and touch my lips to her forehead. Much as I want to seal the deal with more, I wanna get my girl as far away from here as possible. There will be a motel stop along the way though.

“I need to tell you something before we leave, and if it changes your mind about me or us, I’ll under—”

I place a finger over her lips to stop her from talking.

“Your dad took pleasure in telling me, but I understand, Alex. I ain’t gonna pretend I’m not upset about it, but it was always your decision. I didn’t come here because you were pregnant. I came here because I love you, baby or no baby.” I watch a tear slide over her cheek and hope it ain’t out of regret.

“Don’t cry on me, darlin’.”

“I’m not sad,” she snuffles. “I’m really happy.” A smile breaks on her face, and I drag the hair out of her eyes so I can see it better. “My dad thinks I had a termination because that’s what I needed him to think.”

She looks up at me with eyes full of tears, and I try and figure out what she’s telling me.

“It was part of the deal to save the club. He drove me to the appointment, and then I wasn't sure of dates, so they did an early scan.” I crush together the hand that isn't touching her, I got every right to go back in there and kill the mother fucker for what he’s put her through. Sick son of a bitch.

“When I saw them, I just couldn’t go through with it. I felt like I had to protect them.”

“Them?” I ask, wondering who the hell she’s talking about now.

“This is what I had to talk to you about, we’re not having a baby, Squealer, we’re having two babies.” I stare at her for a few seconds while I process the words that have just come out of her mouth. Two, she definitely said two.

I’m sure she said… two.

“So you’re telling me you're still pregnant?”

“Yes,” she nods, and I feel a heavy rush of relief warm my whole body. I never realized how much I wanted this with her until right this second.

“And you're saying there are two babies in there, instead of one?”

“Yep.” She bites on her lip nervously while she waits for my reaction.

“Well, that's fuckin’ awesome.” I wrap my arm around her hip and pull her even closer.

“Squealer, this is huge. One baby was scary enough, but two?”

“Alex, I’m a twin myself. I know what we’re getting into. And we got a whole club to help us out.”

“I was so worried you’d freak out because, trust me, I’ve been there. When the doctor told me, I almost passed out, and then when she told me the dates, I realized it had to have been that first night at the motel. I’ve been freaking out this whole time about how I was gonna do it on my own.”

“Hey, you don’t have to worry about that anymore. I’m taking you back to Colorado, and we’ll figure it all out together.” I place my hand over her stomach. “Two… Hell, when we do things, we sure do it properly.” I laugh to myself. “You okay to ride this thing?” I look at my bike.

“For a few more months, then we can trade for a station wagon.” I stare back at her until she laughs, and I realize she’s teasing, but I let her have that one, kissing her lips before she moves to take the saddle.

“Alex,” I stop her before she throws her leg over. “I’m so fucking happy right now. I’ll make sure you never regret giving me all this.”

“You better, baby daddy.” She grabs my face, squishing my cheeks as she pulls me in for another kiss.

“Alexandra,” a woman’s voice calls from behind us. When I turn around, her mother is rushing toward us. “Please don’t leave with this man, whatever trouble you’re in, we can deal with it. I just can’t lose another child.” I look over the prissy woman’s shoulder to where her husband stands in the door of his home, daring him with my eyes to take a step closer. I protect what’s mine, and right now, he’s a threat to my family. A family he tried to destroy.
