“So what have I missed?” Jessie sounds much more upbeat as he grabs up his duffle from the space beside him and drains the last of his coffee.

“We had a run-in with some wannabe gangsters over at Pueblo, got a solid lead on Storm’s sister. Oh, and Squealer’s knocked up the lady cop with twins.”

“What!” Jess spits his coffee out.

“Yep, she’s back, and they're shacked up in Abby’s old cabin together.”

“Fuck, that’s gonna be one hell of a show. And how’s he coping with it all?” Jessie places a ten-dollar bill under his cup before his eyes dart out to where Squealer’s brother, Screwy, is standing against the wall.

“Better than I expected, but you never know what's tick-tocking in that head of his,” I point out, leading us to the door.

“Where’s Troj anyway?” Jess asks as he steps out behind me.

“He’s flown your sister out to New York to get away for a few days. He’s dealing with shit well.” Jess looks pleased to hear it.

“What’s up, Screw?” Jess saddles his bike and gets a nod out of Screwy before he tosses his cigarette and crushes it under his boot.

Screw’s loyal as hell, but he’s unpredictable. I don’t know what it is that tortures him on the inside, but that fuse is always ready to blow. I just hope he can keep it in check for what’s coming.

“So what’s this lead on Storm’s sister?” Jess asks, grabbing his bars and straightening his front wheel.

“That’s our first order of business when we get back.” I kick start my engine and glance over at Screwy. His blues eyes seem so much darker than his brother’s, like they’ve drowned in hate, and I get the impression a lot of that loathing is for himself.

It ain’t ideal that he’s our only option for what we’re about to get into. But there ain’t a brother wearing a Dirty Souls patch that I don’t trust, and Screwy may not know it yet, but he’s about to become a fucking hero…
