“We haven't saved you yet–we still gotta get out of this place.” Maddy continues to drag me down the corridor, and I concentrate on moving my feet against the thick red carpet.

Suddenly she stops us from moving, and when I look up, Clara is blocking the wide, elaborate staircase in front of us.

“They know you’re here. They have all the exits covered,” she warns us. My heart is thumping in my chest, and the adrenaline is starting to give me a little more strength.

“How many men are here?” Maddy asks cautiously.

“Seven now. I watched your friend take out two of them.”

Rogue.

“We need to warn the others that our exit isn’t safe.” Maddy quickly takes out her phone, and I watch a horrified look blanket Clara’s face.

“That won’t be necessary.” Slowly, Maddy and I spin our bodies toward the male voice that approaches us from behind. There’s an accent to it, one that sounds similar to my trainer’s.

The man in front of us carries a presence that’s much more superior to my trainer’s, though. He’s handsome and tall, his athletic body outlined by the tailored suit he’s wearing.

“Your friends are waiting for you in the library.” He stares darkly at us both. “Come, we will join them.”

Maddy raises the gun in her arms and points it at his head, this time with the barrel facing her target. “We aren’t going anywhere with you,” she warns, and the handsome man laughs as if she just told him a joke. I peer back over my shoulder and see two other men, both wearing suits, as they climb up the stairs. I freeze when one of them takes hold of Clara and forces his gun into her head. The other presses his gun into the back of Maddy’s neck. And when I turn back to face the man, who I’m sure is Raphael Verretti, I see that my trainer is now standing beside him too. He looks pissed, his hand rubbing at the back of his neck while his eyes focus on me.

“Take them to join the others, boys. I have plans for these biker whores.” Verretti smiles at me.

We’re led down the staircase, and Maddy and Clara are thrown through the doors that lead to the Library. My trainer doesn’t let me go. His fingers embed into my forearm and crush my bones. There are another two armed men standing guard over Shaniya, Grace, and Rogue, who are tied up on the floor.

We’re forced to join them by the men holding us, and they work to tie us up in the same way.

“Look what we have here.” Raphael paces the floor in front of us like a prowling wolf.

“I plan to come and take you, and instead, you come to me,” he sniggers to himself. “Tell me, do Dirty Souls always make things so easy for their enemies?” His tongue rolls over his bottom lip as he scrolls his eyes over us like we’re prey. He moves closer to Rogue and crouches in front of her, his face just inches away from hers.

“Careful boss, that one bites.” The man standing by the door warns, and Rogue snarls, showing the blood between her teeth to confirm what he says is true.

“She thinks herself indestructible,” Raphael smirks at her while he talks back to his guard. “They are the best ones to break.” His finger slides over her cheek to tuck some hair behind her ear, and she shakes him off fiercely.

“Which one of you clever girls is the tech one?” he asks, standing back up tall and rubbing his finger across his lip while he studies them and awaits an answer.

I don’t look up in case my eyes automatically look at Maddy. I stare at the floor in front of me instead.

“Pablo,” Raphael looks at my trainer. It’s the first time I’ve ever heard his name. “You want the girl, no?” his head gestures to me.

“Yes, boss. I do.” It’s strange hearing my trainer sound so submissive and only emphasizes how powerful Raphael Verretti is.

“Then take her now. They can all watch until the tech girl decides to make herself known to us.” A wicked grin sweeps onto my trainer’s face as he moves behind me, crouching down and forcing me forward so my cheek cracks against the hard marble floor.

“Wasn’t quite how I thought it would be, Muñequita,” he whispers.

“It’s me. I’m your tech girl.” I manage to lift my head to follow the voice, and I try not to react when I realize it came from Rogue.

Raphael holds up a hand to my trainer to halt him, and I feel him sigh heavily as he backs off.

“Kristian, take her to Marco. He’s in the study,” Raphael orders, and Rogue doesn’t show a trace of fear as she’s hauled onto her feet and dragged past him.

“Wait… She’s lying. I’m the one you want.” I hear the tremble in Maddy’s voice as she calls out.

“Jesus, you really can’t just keep your mouth shut, can you?” Rogue shakes her head. How is she being so calm through all this?

“Silence.” Raphael's hand moves swiftly, cracking across Rogue's cheek and causing a flame in her eyes just for a split second before she composes herself again.
