“Holy Shit.” The smile suddenly fades off Prez’s face and the shock in his voice has me turning my head back toward the entrance.

I don’t recognize the woman who steps through the swinging doors. But she looks like she has the weight of the world on her shoulders as she scans the room to seek out who she’s looking for.

“What the hell are you doing here?” Thorne straightens himself up from where he’s hunched over the bar and moves quickly toward her.

I barely know the man, but the calm vibe he usually gives off is up and vanished.

“Thorne… I…”

“I told you twenty years ago that I never wanted to see your face ever again,” he interrupts before she can answer his question. I study the woman a little harder, and on closer inspection, I can see she isn’t in good shape. She’s painfully thin and has bruises all over her arms and face.

“Is that…?” Jessie leans in closer to Prez.

“Yep, that’s Suzie. Thorne’s sister,” Prez whispers back.

“And didn’t she…”

“Marry herself to a Bastard,” Prez confirms.

“I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t have to be. I’ve come for help.” The woman stands in front of Thorne, trying her best to hold on to her pride, and I can’t help but feel sorry for her.

“You gave up the privilege of asking for help the day you married one of those scum bags, and I can see how well that worked out for ya,” Thorne rolls his eyes over her coldly. “Now get the fuck out of here and go back to the club you belong to.”

He turns his back on her and makes his way back to the bar. Taking his place back beside Tac, but the woman doesn’t run like I expect her to.

She stands firm, her chest heaving up and down like she’s building up to something, and when her mouth opens again, the whole room falls silent.

“I didn’t come here to ask for your help Thorne, and I didn’t come here for me.”

Thorne turns his attention back to her and shakes his head impatiently.

“I came here for him.”

My eyes follow hers, and I’m confused when I see them fix on Tac.

“And I came here for his son.”

I hear the intake of breath that everyone around me makes at the same time, and the glass in Tac's hand immediately drops to the bar and shatters.

“There ain’t ever a dull day in the Soul family,” Squealer mutters under his breath as we all wait for Tac’s response.

“Tac, what the fuck is she talking about?” Thorne turns his head to look at his friend.

“I don’t know.” Tac shakes his head, staring at the intruder like she just threw a grenade at him.

“I didn’t want to tell you like this. I wanted to talk somewhere more privately, but…”

“Suze. What are ya telling me?” Tac runs his hand over his face, suddenly looking very serious.

“I’m telling you, you got a son.” Her hand shakes as she opens her purse and pulls out a photo. Then stepping nervously toward the bar, she places it over the broken glass in front of him.

“His name’s Hayden, and he turned nineteen last month.” Thorne and Tac’s eyes both drop to the photo, and the first thing I notice is the cut he’s wearing and the fact it’s different from the one the men surrounding me have on.

“Suzie, what are you talking about? Tac hasn’t got no kid, and if he did, it sure as hell wouldn’t be no Bastard.” Thorne glares at his sister, waiting for a response.

“Tac has a son,” she stares back at her brother. “And I’m sure of it because I’m his mother.” Tears roll over her cheeks as she closes her eyes and waits for his response.

“That can’t be true…” Rage is building up inside Thorne. I can’t be the only one to sense it.
