“I’m not a murderer,” I growl.

He smirks, squeezing my wrist until I feel a pinch of pain. “Are you trying to convince me, or yourself?”

“Let her go, Reign,” Archer snaps from the couch, though he stays where he is.

Reign shifts his eyes lazily to the couch. “She wants to hide from her own secrets, but she can’t escape what she never buried.” He drops his eyes to mine. “Isn’t that right, baby Lake?”

I lick my lips. “What are you trying to say?”

“He’s saying that we did a shitty job at covering up a murder, and now we’ve got some fucking psycho killer on the loose,” Kyler snaps.

“And how the hell do you catch a killer?” Reign growls. “When you can’t even come to terms with what the killer is after?”

They have it wrong.

The killer doesn’t want to kill me.

The killerwants me.

And I could never tell any of them what I’ve done. I truly believe they would kill me where I stand.

I swallow, my body tensing, and Reign narrows his eyes, watching me curiously. He notices my change in body posture, his head cocking to the side. “Something on your mind, baby Lake?”

I shake my head, attempting to pull my arm out of his hold, but he grips me tighter, narrowing his eyes. “What are you hiding?” he grits.

I turn my eyes to Archer. “Help me,” I grit between my teeth.

He leans back, his legs spread, his arm resting over the back of the couch. “Honestly, baby Lake, I can tell you’re hiding something too, and I’m also curious as to what it is.”

My eyes widen, and I turn to Kyler. “Spit it the fuck out, Lakyn,” he growls.

Creed steps up behind me, his hand going to the back of my neck. I lift my shoulders to my ears, wanting to get out of it, out of the possessive hold. They have my heart, soul, and body in their grip, and I don’t believe they’ll ever let me go.

“What could you possibly be hiding from us, Lakyn?” His grip around my neck tightens, and he tilts my head, so I can see just a glimpse of his sharp jaw. He leans in close, until his cheek brushes mine. “You can never keep a thing from us, Lake. We’ll pull it out of you eventually. Might as well just come clean.”

I swallow over the truths, knowing I’d never survive if I told them what I’ve done.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I rasp, my throat bone dry.

They chuckle, and goosebumps pop along my skin. I clear my throat, looking around at all of them, feeling like they’re playing their own, twisted prank with me.

“Do you know why we’re laughing, baby?” Reign rasps, his grip still firm around my wrist.

I shake my head back and forth. “Because we all know you’re keeping something from us, and if we weren’t laughing right now, you might not like how we’d react.”

My eyes slide to Archer’s, and he’s watching me blankly.

“You guys are out of your fucking minds,” I seethe, tearing my arm roughly, and finally, it breaks free. “I’m not keeping a thing from you. My dad just fucking died. Give me some grace.”

“Quit using it as an excuse. You’d be more upset if you stepped in a puddle of mud and dirtied your Converse,” Kyler snaps.

I glare at him. “Shut up, Kyler.”

He leans his head back, barking out a laugh. “You know it’s the truth, baby, just admit it.”

“That’s enough,” Reign growls, pulling me against his side. “Come with me.”

I can feel the tension suddenly grow thick in the room, and I frown, glancing around.
