He said these words to me once before, when I finally knew I was in love with him. I never told him the words, yet he never said them either. He could see it in my eyes, and as he made love to me, one of the last times we ever slept together before he left, he told me these words, and they’ve been imprinted in my heart ever since.

“Only mine. Forever mine. Infinitely mine,” he repeats the words, and I reach up, gripping onto his arms. My eyes burn, and my heart blooms until it fills my chest completely.

“Forever,” I whisper.

He smirks dangerously, his hand going to my neck. He wraps his fingers around my throat, gripping me tightly as he bends down. My leg stretches, the muscles burning, though I allow the ache as he reaches toward me, his fingers tightening slowly as his lips reach mine.

I reach up, my fingers going around his neck, squeezing his throat back.

He wants to be in control. Well, I’m just as mad over him as he is about me.

I pull his face closer, until our noses brush. Our eyes lock, a burning flame that brews between us. I never want it to end, and he seems to think the same, because he leans forward, securing his lips to mine. Our lips and teeth clash, knocking together, our tongues in a tango as we battle for the top.

As always, I let him win, manipulating me just as he wants me.

My body heats, a low and growing tingle between my legs, slipping down my limbs. I gasp, my lips parting from his as I watch the pleasure build. His hips speed up, and my jaw slackens as I near the edge.

He dips his tongue inside, grinding against mine as he lets out a groan.

“You want to come on my cock, baby Lake?”

I nod against his lips, my body growing warm, and I know my skin must be hot to the touch.

“Then come, baby, but have my name on your lips when you do.”

My head tilts back, my hair brushing against his comforter. It’s soft against my skin, and my hands reach out, clutching the light fabric between my fingers. His hands go on top of mine, our fingers lacing together, and he grips the sheets above me, both of us holding on to the surface for dear life.

Currents bolt through my body, starting in my lower belly and spreading through my veins. The orgasm locks me in a chokehold, tearing my limbs apart and draining me dry.

His body stiffens, cording with tension, his muscles twitching, and I can do nothing but watch as his own orgasm rips through him, his back arching as he stares at the ceiling. His neck stiffens, his Adam’s apple tightening as his jaw becomes rigid. He’s stone above me, so fucking beautiful and so deadly, yet I can’t do anything besides watch him and be jealous of my own self that I have a piece of him.

He rides his wave with me, both of us slick with sweat, our eyes locked on each other’s as the tension crackles through the air. Eventually, his hips slow, and he rolls them, each jerk causing me to twitch.

It’s magnificent.

He drops forward, his forehead falling to my shoulder before he lifts off me, a rush of cool air sliding between us. He carries me to the top of his bed, until my head hits his pillow, and he pulls his comforter over my body, tucking the both of us in.

As he wraps his arm around my waist, I breathe heavy, panting breaths as my heart rate slows.

I settle my head into his shoulder, my eyes falling closed, listening as his heartbeat pounds against his chest. Though my body and heart slow, my mind does not.

Reign is my person; he is my soul. I have been in love with him for a long time, and all the heartbreaks in the world wouldn’t change that.

Though, the masked man has a hold of me, and I’m not sure how. I don’t know how he could possibly have me wrapped in his darkness as deeply as he does… yet he does.

It’s like he snuck into my room that night, and picked up his own piece of my heart, claiming it for myself.

The scariest part is, I don’t know if I want it back.

CHAPTER EIGHTEEN

LAKYN

Eloise pulls up on the curb, and we hop out, our arms holding oversized boxes and bags filled with more Halloween decorations.

“Hey, El. Did you light the pumpkins before we left?” Vienna asks as she shuts her door with her hip. Her voice sounds a little off, and I tilt my head as I turn to her. Leaves fall between us, vibrant and large, as they twist and tumble their way to the ground.

The end of October is near, the green in the trees having switched to an orange and reddish hue which looks like burning embers. The streets and sidewalks are filled with dried leaves that crunch with every step.
