He says nothing, his body stone against me.

“You killed him!” I sob.

His hand grips the knife, and my eyes drop to it, seeing the tinge of blood still on the tip of the blade.

As if instinct hits me, I reach down, grabbing the handle and sliding it out of his hands. I turn it around, and his body stiffens, but before he can react, I plunge it forward, sinking it straight into his abdomen. It feels odd, sticking a sharp blade through fabric, through skin and muscle, into the deepest depths of a human.

It’s hard and easy at the same time, and my heart shreds after I sink it into this particular person.

This person.

My masked man.

He gasps, and I gasp with him, tears flooding my eyes and slipping down my cheeks.

I twist the blade, and he bends slightly, pain coiling through his body.

My body starts falling apart, and I grow numb, barely able to feel my limbs as I reach forward. My fingers grip the bottom of his mask, and he shakes his head, but I don’t stop, pulling the mask off his face.

My eyes widen, at the same time as his do, twisted in pain.

A gasp leaves my mouth, and another slew of tears floods my eyes.

“What?” I sob. “Why?” I scream.

My heart broken.

Everything is just…broken.
