I heard the soft gasp, and then she whispered, “Home? As in here? With me?”
“Yes, babe, home is where you are.”
“And the mountains,” I heard her tease.
“And the mountains.” I grinned as I thought about all the things I knew about her. “And I really want to make the population of Clearwater Pines five hundred, for my girl.”
Hearing her laugh made me smile. Becoming serious again, I looked around once more at the park, the city looming over it; it was good, but it wasn’t what I wanted anymore. I really had fallen in love with the Rockies, it was no secret. “I love where we live, but I love you more. Wherever you want to go, I’m going too.” My mind was made up; everything else was just details.
“I’m not going anywhere,” she told me, and I could hear her smile. “I’m so ready. Come home, Mark.”
