The next few slides make any fantasy in my head fly away. The minute class is over, I am hoping to avoid any confrontation she has about what just happened.

But no can do. Alaska blocks my way, and if I want the quickest exit it is directly behind her, not even ten feet away.

“This other Alyeska you know, what does she look like?” She’s playing with me, and I need to get out of here.

“Nothing like you. She’s pretty.”

“I’m not pretty?” Alaska seems a little hurt.

“What? No, you’re gorgeous.” Great, I bring my fist to my mouth, and I am way off my game right now.

“You think I am gorgeous?” Alaska is petting her chest like she doesn’t know the level of hot degrees she is ranked.

See, Alaska in high school I would describe as a rock. She chose to blend in with the background. Didn’t try to make friends, wasn’t even on my radar. But college Alaska, now don’t get me wrong, she’s probably always been a beauty. But the confidence matched with this queen, yeah, you could say Alaska moved up the chart pretty quickly.

“Fuck, Alaska, sure, but let’s be serious. The second you open that sassy mouth, I am a goner for you and would grovel on my knees. But it won’t be happening, see, because why would I try and fight with you in real life when I have already won you over too many times to count in my dreams?” I lean in close, letting the warmth in my voice spread down her neck. “Besides, you are a lot more fun when I have you bent over my bed and screaming my name.”

I pull away and Alaska’s eyes are wide with shock; they look a little impressed, so I think I have won this round. But her surprise turns into a sinister smile.

“Makes two of us, because in my dreams, you are screaming my name, but they aren’t sounds of pleasure, baby. It is all pain.” Then she smacks her lips on my cheek and I think I am never going to win her over no matter what I do or say.

But I think she likes knowing she always has the upper hand. Time to see if I can pull a few strings and make her join my side.

It’s been two weeks since I have seen her; class got canceled last week and there isn’t any real reason to accidentally run into each other.

But I catch her as I am coming out of the locker room and she is cutting through the pool to get to her next class on time.

Fate clearly has brought us together.

“Hey, Alaska! You got a minute?” I jog over to her before she exits the gym.

“I’ve got plenty; however, for you, I can’t spare any.” She smiles and tries to go around me.

“I am asking for your help, and you are turning me down?”

“Go to hell, Aladden. For the last fucking time, my name is Alyeska.” She gets a wounded look on her face as she thinks of her next sentence. “Has all that chlorine killed your brain cells? Sweetie, you know you’re not supposed to drink the water.”

“Clever.” I glare at her.

“Why aren’t you swimming; is it because you pooped in the pool? Also, another big no, no.” She pouts those lips like a weapon.

“Alaska, cut the shit. This is serious, I need your help.”

“I highly doubt the golden boy needs anybody’s help, especially when he pretends, he is a obedient boy, instead of a pill popping addict. Scared the crowd might not like you if they were aware?” Aly leans in with a taunt. “Maybe you think everyone else can be fooled by your charm. But I think I like knowing the Almighty Lad has a few cracks in his cardboard armor.” She taps her lips, evil. “Speaking of elementary school crafts, where is your mother these days?” Alaska is mean and vile.

Why do I need her help again? There has to be somebody else; literally, anybody else seems better at this point.

“Why do you have to be such a bitch?” I would never call a normal nice woman a mean name, but Alaska might be a beautiful sexy monster come to ruin my day.

Today, she wants to battle.

“Takes one to know one,” she says with a shrug, leaving my presence. Shit, this girl gets under my skin.

“Hey, wait, Alaska. Can I get your home address?” I find a pen and open my palm to write.

“Why do you need to know where I live?” Her black eyebrows peak up.

“You told me to go to hell, and I just wanted directions to make sure I got there. I mean, you fly on your broomstick after school there every day, don’t you? After you collect the souls of orphaned children and boil their eyeballs for your midnight snack?” I pout my lips at her. Everybody has unique interests, hobbies; you can’t judge them based on their character.
