“I never overthink anything.” But she snorts, not believing herself.

“Aly, I do need your help. If you feel like a good person this morning, would you rethink my proposal?” I push a piece of hair behind her ear.

“On one condition, you stop calling me Alaska.” And I am both stunned and shocked she agreed; like what the hell, what the fuck, those words flew out of her mouth too fast, too soon.

“Are you messing with me?” I play with her hair as she leans on my chest.

“No, I guess you aren’t a super douche anymore. I will help you, but not babysit you. You better not be clingy twenty-four seven. Because I swear I will blab to the whole swim team you have a shaming kink.” Aly glares at me and I swear it is the sweetest thing she has ever said to me.

“Deal.” I kiss her so hard, she forgets to argue.

This is way better than the way I thought I would wake up.Dead, I imagined the worst. Mainly with me having a stab wound in the chest or my nuts cut off; it depended on how frisky Alyeska was feeling after I fell asleep.

Because I can’t fault her for it, she sure is dreamy when she uses all her pent-up anger for sex instead of decapitating my confidence.

What a winner.

Chapter 7

Alyeska

“Go!Go!Go!”Ishield my face by cupping my hand, away from Aladden who had the gumption to walk me out.

What an asshole.

“Who is that?” Bambi is mighty cheerful this morning. “And what spell did you put on him to make him like you?”

I can’t ignore Lad standing on the porch, shirtless, waving goodbye to me. After we had another rumble this morning, I told him we had to stay on opposite sides of the room until my cousin came. Also, pointed out he should disinfect the table we were naked on last night.

Lad was too excited this morning, fuck, and being sweet. It was so annoying and gross, like we have a hobby, bro, and it isn’t being friends. Stick to the script.Jesus.

“Oh, him? Just Lad.” I wave him away and I can see his whole body laugh at my discomfort.

“Hmm, interesting. Isn’t there a guy you are partners with for a project named Lad? Some man who is the death to all good men and the bane of any woman wanting to have self-respect?” Bambi likes to catch me in my own web of lies.

“Um, maybe. Sounds familiar.”

“Would this also be the same guy, who is ‘Aladden the Cannon,’ a national champion? I hear the very earth he walks on can be used for the president’s welcome. Other tales say he is the inspiration for many of the Greek god sculptures, mainly his nether regions.” Bambi wiggles her eyebrows at me and I concede.

“Fuck, you are worse than me. Goodness, yes, I despised him, but I fucked him several times.” I blush a bit and she starts giggling.

“And do you still hate him?” Bambi moving on as we pull out of the driveway.

“I don’t know. I think I hate him less.”

“That’s something.”

“Unless it means I am losing my touch. What about you? Did you and Julie make baby number three last night?” I face her as we drive down the road.

“We didn’t even make it to second base.” Bam rolls her eyes, and I can’t wait to hear the details of this story.

“Oh no, what happened?” I turn up the music as she begins her events from the previous night.

“Libby got scared, so Julian went and picked up both the girls and they came home and we all fell asleep on the couch watching cartoons.” I can tell she loved every minute of it.

“Awe, you are adorable. Look at you and your healthy, thriving family. I bet it really turns you on, stability. That must be nice, Bam Bam.” My cousin deserves every ounce of happiness in the entire world. I would give up any liver I had so she could use it in sacrifice rituals to make her live longer.

That’s the kind of bond we have.
