“Yes, Sir Malifer,” he replied.

The moment the glass rolled up to seal our space with the privacy we desired, I allowed myself to quietly giggle before I leaned in and tugged his bottom lip with my teeth. Our gaze grew tenser by the second.

“You and I both know I don’t give a shit about the car.”

“Right,” I purred. “Then what are you waiting for, Alpha? Shouldn’t you take away what your father was desperate to steal for himself?”

The mere mention of his father upset him, but he somehow managed to stay in control.

“I can’t do that when you have a knife against my neck, Lex.”

I wished Momo was here, for the familiar would laugh hysterically at the scene of a butcher knife against his jugular vein. If the car moved to the left just slightly, it would be enough force to slide the knife through his flesh.

If the vehicle moved at all, I’d probably be the culprit of attempted murder. Oops.

“You weren’t planning to fuck me in here anyway,” I huffed with an added pout as my eyes narrowed in judgment. “Boring.”

“I’m not going to fuck you in this car that’s probably a garbage truck according to your standards.”

“Aww,” I sweetly replied. “Is that your way of being romantic?”

He grunted. “If I wanted to be romantic, I would have taken you back when we were pressed against the bed and making out like horny teenagers.”

Oh right. I’d forgotten all about that frisky kissing moment after I’d cried my eyes out.

“I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

“Your short-term memory loss is going to be utterly annoying,” he countered.

“Probably, but it's better than being fucking clumsy,” I brought up. “Which I disdain completely. How can a being of my caliber and grace be clumsy? You know how utterly dangerous it is to have someone who can’t walk straight without tripping over air. Or better yet, holding a knife is probably a crime in the clumsy department. One wrong move and-AH!”

The car jolted forward as if it was forced to go from zero to one hundred in a second to match the speed of the surrounding cars. I couldn’t figure out if that was exactly what happened because clumsy me just had to toss the butcher knife that was spinning in the air and about to enjoy a deadly drop—the tip of the blade first—into Malifer’s damn groin.

Oh no! Not damaging precious goods!

Clearly, Malifer wasn’t going to stop it because both hands were gripping my ass so I wouldn’t literally fall off his lap and into the back seat of the passenger seat in front, which was exactly why I caught the blade with my bare hand. It hurt like a bitch.

“Ow!” I cursed and thankfully caught the weapon before it had a chance to make its mark between Malifer’s legs.

He stared in horror while I frowned and gave him a death stare as my blood freely poured down the blade.

“See what you did?”

“You were the one who summoned the knife,” he reminded me as if I’d forgotten.

“You’re the one who gave me clumsiness as my flaw,” I countered. “I would rather be blind. At least I’d get to wear cool bandages around my face and act like a fucking daredevil.”

“Are you hearing yourself?” he asked me in utter disgust.

“Loud and clear, Alpha,” I hummed in delight and blinked innocently. “You didn’t take away my sense of hearing, though I sometimes think you should so if I disobey you, I can truthfully use the excuse that I didn’t hear what you said.”

We glared at one another before his phone rang which had us looking from each other to his phone and back to my bleeding hand that was cloaked in black liquid.

Wait a minute…

My eyes widened just like his before we shared a look.

“Wait,” I whispered. “Black blood? Why is my blood black? Is that normal or has my body malfunctioned?” Maybe it was the panic of the sight of black blood that suddenly had me on the verge of fainting.
