I saw the signs when I was but a toddler, noticing his attention was on another boy. It was why I thought the creation and usage of my Maleficient Astra would move his attention away from Travis.

It did in the beginning, and for a moment in time, I guessed I was happy and satisfied with my life and ability to make my Astra my “brother,” but at the end of the day, Travis was a bad habit, and my father had gotten addicted to the vampire’s ploys and imaginary visions of what Father could accomplish in our fucked-up world.

Time to face this bastard and the man who wished me dead.

“BiBiBo?” Momo paused her singing to look up at the sky. “Bi?”

“What’s the familiar looking at?” Lauren demanded.

“Looks like my ally is here. He calls me Amber, so feel free to do the same,” Laura—aka Amber—sweetly declared. “I’m sure you’ve heard of him: Travis Baker.”

Nathan stared at the woman with pure judgment.

“No offense to you, but what could you have bargained to get Travis Baker to aid you in whatever your conquest is?” Nathan questioned as he further leaned into his chair. “You barely told us how you managed to survive the drop, confirm Lexi was apparently alive, and steal this familiar that you claim is hers.”

“Ah,” Amber began and tried to feign confidence, but I knew better. She was nervous. Did she really think because Nathan and Lauren were wolf shifters that they wouldn’t ask questions? Nathan might have been projecting his desperation to be rid of the bond so he can make the alliance with Fox Moon, but he wasn’t so stupid that he’d dance to another’s evil plans.

“Well, you see, I’m the only daughter of my previous pack,” she began which clearly caught Lauren’s interest as she arched an eyebrow and leaned back into her chair.

“Oh really?” Lauren hummed. “Which pack is that?”

“They’re really small. You wouldn’t even know them,” Amber dismissed but didn’t back down from telling her alibi. “My mate is from a different pack. A powerful one in the south. He decided I was far too weak and my pack was simply a disgrace because of our size. We all know the number of members in your pack and their ranks are super important these days. The news of his rejection got to my father and I became unimportant. Therefore, I was sacrificed. However, I managed to survive the drop because it had snowed that night. The weather is apparently unpredictable in the valley, but the snow created a big slide so I didn’t break too many bones from the fall. When I reached the final stages of the forest, I saw this Lexi individual.”

“That’s an adventurous story and all, but that doesn’t explain why Travis is helping you,” Nathan huffed.

“We made a bargain.”

The declaration came from the far left, and there he was with his arms raised from his sides as if he’d descended from the fucking sky like a god.

Travis fucking Baker.

Showtime And Luna’s Pet: Part Three

My wolf growled at the sight while my demon seemed just as ticked off, but the three of us blended perfectly with the shadows where we were standing, for I wanted to get as much information as I could as to why he was entering the playing field.

“A bargain, you say?” Lauren spoke up. “When did you do such a thing? Clearly, no one has access to the valley,” she noted the obvious. “And you’re late.”

“I’m not late,” he corrected as he began to walk towards the table while he straightened his black tie. He wore a white suit which was peculiar even for him, and his brown hair was spiked up. This had to be one of his disguises, for he looked like a cocky rockstar that just finished playing a gig, threw a random suit on, and came down to this restaurant for our deal.

“You’re all just early,” Travis declared with a wide grin. “Lauren! It's been a while since I’ve seen you in public. Has your pack been keeping you busy? Your father is surely snatching up alliances left and right.”

He laughed as he reached the table while Lauren’s disapproving frown actually matched Amber’s—only Amber’s attention was on her obvious imposter.

“If you think running one of the strongest packs in Hollow City is easy, you wouldn’t be here.”

“Now you’re being a tad cocky,” Travis argued. He didn’t hesitate to pull out a chair, spin it to face him, and sit down on the metal piece. “If you were one of the strongest packs in Hollow City, you wouldn’t have all the time of day to sleep around with anything that breathes.”

Amber lost it in laughter. “Isn’t that the truth,” she hollered.

“Excuse me?” Lauren glared daggers at Amber. “How would you know shit when you’re the Alpha’s daughter of a miniscule pack?”

“C’mon, Lauren. Chill the fuck out,” Nathan grumbled. “Everyone under the damn sun knows you fuck anyone with a six-inch cock and above.”

“Nathan!” she snarled and slammed her hands onto the table which made Momo jump. “I didn’t come here to be insulted!”

“No. You came here to strike an alliance because your pack is so frightened of the idea of war that your father will make as many alliances as he can to ensure y’all survive,” Travis tossed back as he rested his arms on the back of the chair so he could lay his head on them. “That’s why you appease the needs of those Alphas, Beta Commanders, and anyone else who seems like a force to be reckoned with. That way, when a threat comes knocking on your territory’s door, you can summon all your flings to come to your pack’s aid, correct?”
