“I thought I was here to witness the alliance between Shade Moon and Fox Moon Packs,” he countered. “Only I’m facing the Maleficient Astra of the apparently ‘dead’ older brother and the Tainted Time Keeper who’s been acting like the Fox Moon Alpha’s daughter for five years.”

The cat is out of the bag.

“You knew everything?!” Amber screamed as her whole body shook. “You cunning bastard! You knew that imposter of a bitch took my position and yet you’ve been feeding on me the last five fucking years so you can be a demon hybrid!”

“It’s a shame you didn’t figure it out earlier.” Travis obviously didn’t give two shits about her fuming display of anger. “I gave you the best sex you’ve had in your entire demon existence since your Alpha, the man you rejected and pushed off the cliff, wouldn’t dare share the same space as you, let alone put his cock in your crab-infested pussy. Which, by the way, you should get checked. The lab results came back that down there is rather… infected. Didn’t think female demons could get HIV, crabs, and herpes. You’re lucky there was no gonorrhea.”

The woman gasped in shock before it clicked. “You took my fucking cum to a LAB?!”

“You're surprised by that?” Travis pouted his lips. “I thought you’d be more surprised by the fact that, when you think about it, everyone was able to use your naive, slutty ass to get what they wanted.”

He moved his arms to cross them over his chest.

“Alpha Shade, the real one, used you to create a fake mate bond with Alpha Malifer. Then he used you to reject his own son and killed him, but he made a deal with that very Tainted Time Keeper over there that she’d be allowed to kill you and take your position, which is pretty damn smart since you were already known as a slut, so it made no difference. Thanks to your survival, I got to keep using you to feed, which helped me extract every thread of demonic energy and practice the highest form of being a demon, which is Maleficent Astra. That’s how I was able to do exactly what Nathan has been doing for… his whole life. I’m sure that had something to do with your father experimenting with your body and tainting your blood with particles extracted from the forbidden lands long before they turned into the valley, but why don’t we leave that discussion for another day.”

Nathan gawked and I mimicked the very action because what the fuck?

Father was using the deadly particles of Lily’s land and experimenting with me? Why the fuck don’t I remember that?

“I got sidetracked there, but it's thanks to that whole mess-up at the secret lab base that you and Lexianne are together, right?” He laughed it off and sighed. “Back to Amber, or well... Laura, isn’t it? Nice alibi attempt, just like your strong belief that I needed you to kidnap the familiar to lead me here. Why would I, or anyone, need a familiar to lure a culprit to a designated restaurant? Did you think I couldn’t simply use one of the Dako flies that I have access to thanks to the lovely perks of being the favorite prodigy of Alpha Shade, or that I wouldn’t be able to track your frantic movements?”

He shook his head in dismay as he lowered his legs to the ground which forced the front legs of his chair to return to the floor. Straightening his attire with a drawn out brush of his hands against the white suede surface of his suit, he rose up to continue.

“I confirmed with you that this restaurant was perfect because it was right in your Alpha’s territory, which means he’d easily have control of his surroundings and how the shadows bend throughout the streets and inside restaurants like these.”

He gestured around once more, his eyes trailing through the room until they landed where I’d been hiding the entire time.

“It makes it easier for one to hide in the shadows and observe his opponent's moves so he knows what he’s going up against, but it's kinda funny when the invited guest knows everyone else's secrets.”

He looked away as if he was suddenly bored and looked back at Lauren.

“So in the end, you’ve made my life a bit easier. Obviously, these men with guns will end up shooting at you, and since you’ve been away from that valley of yours, you won’t be able to respawn which means you’re a dead woman walking. I won’t kill the Time Keeper since I want to see Alpha Shade’s end after his bargain backfired on him. Funny how he agreed that a virgin would never be sacrificed to the valley after that woman, Lily, was sacrificed long ago, and viola! Lexianne was a virgin. If that deal with his business colleague hadn’t gone sour, he wouldn’t have gotten food poisoning and been unconscious for three days. Or what you guys said was a coma.” He clapped his hands. “Seeing as your old man hasn’t figured things out on your end, let’s pretend I’m an idiot and know nothing about it since it’d be stupid for me to kill you in your own territory. I’d like to get out of this place alive after I finish my alliance and all.”

“Alliance?” Nathan snarled. “And what alliance is that?”

“Oh, right, right. I gotta actually elaborate on that since you’ve always been a little slower in picking things up, which is why you were always second between us as kids.”

Nathan growled and looked like he’d jump across the table and tackle him but Lauren lifted her hand up.

“What alliance? Obviously, you just declared loud and clear that you’re not loyal to anyone, not even Alpha Shade, and yet you want an alliance? With whom?” she questioned in haste.

“With your pretty little monster. Duh.” Travis laughed while my eyes widened just like Nathan’s. “Like you said, I’m not loyal to anyone. Did you think I was going to be loyal to Alpha Shade after supervising his nightly torture sessions with your Lexi? It amazes me how you could vow to protect a girl when we were all kids and yet forget that very vow with all the other memories your father went above and beyond to ensure you’d block out. He didn’t use the same Tainted Time Keeper for that request because he actually learned from the first time around how hefty such bargains are, so he requested before your ‘older brother’s’ demise that he’d forget any promises or connections he had with Lexianne and focus on revenge!” he explained.

He twirled around and clapped again.“Then he killed her before she could take his end of the bargain.” He ran his hands through his hair and sighed. “That proved to me that no matter how long I was obedient for, there was going to come a time when I’d be sacrificed. I mean, if he could so easily plot against his own son out of jealousy, who am I? I may have been shifting into a demon, but that wouldn’t up my value in Alpha Shade’s eyes. Therefore, it only made sense that I should pursue what he’s obsessed with. If he gets what he wants, he won’t need an alliance. He’ll have a child who’s a demon wolf shifter and who carries dormant vampire blood which would activate with a simple bite from any vampire. How do I know that? Well… let’s also save that for another day.”

This is too much.

“Lexianne won’t make an alliance with you,” Nathan snapped.

“Correct,” Travis agreed. “But who said I was asking?”

That invited a moment of silence before the man smiled like the sinister bastard he was.

“Do you believe I just info dumped everything I’ve gathered for all these years just to look good? You guys really fall into traps so easily, it’s not even amusing anymore,” he gasped in dread. “Explosive diarrhea wouldn’t keep your sacrificial lamb in the washroom for twenty minutes, would it?”

“You son of a—” Nathan was about to shift when Travis put his hand up.

“Be very careful with what you do, Nathan. You make the wrong move, and maybe I’ll have to collar your pretty little monster up and take her to the lab that’s very desperate to retrieve Experiment 555, which went missing thanks to your father’s ambush on our facility all those years ago.”
