I hadn’t allowed myself to think too much about that. How Lexi had managed to get kidnapped but also become a voodoo doll and inevitably save us from the bomb that originally ruined my restaurant.

Our magic reversed all of that though.

The news was still talking about the “Blooming of Midnight” exhibit that popped up with a bang—the excuse we managed to give to the media to explain why the booming noise of an explosion revealed the decorated block that brought tourists from near and far to come to visit it before it disappeared.

Who knew how long it was going to last there, but its explosive arrival was once again triggered by our unified magic.

Just like those night lilies when I shared a kiss with Lexi on the top of the hill of Haven A.

Our connection was strong, and our magic when molded together with heightened emotion even stronger. It was slightly frightening to think about, but it also empowered us greatly.

Is that why Lex is such a perfect target? Does her connection amplify another’s magic or elements?

There were too many questions and no place to get the proper answers.

I was trying to do this by myself. To use my resources to solve this puzzle, but it was becoming clear with all my actions thus far that I wouldn’t be able to do this alone anymore.

I’ll be forced to ask for help… to be in debt to another.

There was only one pack I could trust but didn’t want to bother: Outcast Hollows Pack.

Despite my hesitation, I knew they were going to be yet another target of Travis which meant I needed to warn Killian before he had to face the impact of Travis’s devious ways. His pack wasn’t as lethal in nature, but what I admired was how he accepted pups that were outcasted by other communities.

He accepted different shifter races, similar to the way I functioned with the valley. That alone earned my respect, for he was an example of what I’d strived to achieve before I became the sacrificial lamb.

Killian was one of the few who knew I was still alive—and that Nathan and I were the same individuals—which was why he’d be the best fit to help me. It was only a matter of time before he heard about the explosion that shifted into an exhibit—the coverup was only made for humans.

Shifters would get the real news:an explosion at Nathan Shade’s restaurant that may have taken his life.

With a sigh, I looked to the fleet that was all now drawing pictures while Momo and Zasper were sitting together and holding hands.

I had to have been lost in my thoughts long enough for them to be doing their own activities to make the time go by, but I knew they all couldn’t come with me to where I was planning to go.

If it was my way, I’d go alone.

“You guys should get back to Lexianne,” I urged and got their attention.

“ViViVo?” Zasper spoke up as he and Momo stood once more, their doll hands still holding one another’s.

“I’m not going far. I know this space is a place I’ve yet to venture into, but I need to get a hold of something that can help protect Lexianne from the bad guy we faced yesterday. The one who tried to kidnap her.”

The mere mention of the incident had the dolls up and pulling out their needles as if they were off to battle.

“ViViVo!” Zasper declared and the others agreed. “VIVIVO!”

“No,” I groaned and couldn't help but run my hands through my hair. I could have used a few more hours of sleep for the journey ahead, but the clock was ticking. “We’re not going to war. We have to train for a few weeks and change the dynamic of Demon Valley if we wish to take on Baker,” I explained. “He’s bad news. Wishes for all of us to perish and create some sort of new world order.”

It gave me a bit of Adam and Eve vibes. As if he and those in power in hidden places wished to wipe the world of all that existed and only the strong, worthy, and rich would be left to start fresh and give birth to a new generation of powerful beings until the world was filled with them.

But under one rulership.

“Bi?” Momo turned her head to one side as she lifted her free hand to her mouth.

“They want Lex because she’s powerful. I’m not 100% sure what more they need her for, but I want to find out. I need to figure it all out, but detective work isn’t my forte,” I confessed and allowed my eyes to soften further. “I’ve entered a game that I’m not familiar with at all. My upbringing hasn’t prepared me for any of this, so I need to do the unexpected and change what my enemy wishes for me to do.”

To stop my dream from becoming a reality.

“Vivivivivivi!” Zasper laughed as if he couldn’t wait to go into battle.
