“Which is why I need you and the fleet to return to Lexianne” I guided the conversation back to the point.

“ViViVo!” Zasper huffed and the other dolls stomped their feet.

“As much as I’d love to argue with you, this is something I need you guys to run with for me.” My voice lacked my usual authoritative nature, and it was enough to catch their attention as they clearly looked concerned for me.

“ViViVo?” Zasper questioned and let go of Momo’s hand to come over and proceeded to climb up my frame until he was literally hanging from the left side of my hair. He used my fine strands to swing over until he latched his doll arm against my forehead as if to check if I had a fever or something.

“Vi!” he declared.

“ViViVo!” The others responded in haste as they seemed to scramble all over the place. I didn’t even have the energy to figure out what the hell they were doing, but without much delay, I was wrapped with a gust of wind so thick that it felt like I’d been engulfed in a mini-tornado.

When the winds calmed, I now wore a blanket that looked far too familiar while a cold patch was on my forehead. I looked down to see the steaming cup of hot chocolate sitting before my crossed legs, and there was even a pack of cold medicine that I could only assume wasn’t expired.

Demons don’t get sick unless they’re on the verge of death after pushing themselves too hard.

“I’m not sick,” I dryly noted but arched an eyebrow at them as I caught onto the lavender scent that made my body flush with heat. Lifting the blanket to my nostrils, I took a deep inhale and let it out, the action only inviting a moment to enjoy the appeasing scent of my woman.

Sweet Lex…

“Don’t tell me you literally stole the blanket that was covering Lexianne.”

“Vivi… vo?” Zasper looked around the others nervously before they all tried to laugh it off, but it was laced with fear.

“BiBiBo?” Momo suggested as if to try and save her fleet of men.

“VIVIVO!” They agreed with whatever she’d asked of them, and with a single wave, the voodoo fleet vanished before my eyes. That left me with the doll in question.

“You just told them to run away for their own sake, didn’t you?”

“BiBiBo!” she huffed and looked away from me.

“And you hate me again,” I concluded. “Guess it's better to be stabbed by you than a nightcrawler at that level of forbidden danger.”

I reached for the hot chocolate, the black mug giving me a sense of warmth. I couldn’t recall the last time I showed a glimpse of being unwell in these lands, let alone when I was still a part of Shade Moon Pack, but I guessed my voodoo dolls knew what would bring some sort of comfort.

I inhaled at a slow pace, my eyes closing for a mere second while my mind purposely drifted to check on Lexianne. There she lay on the bed, her body covered in a newly-knitted blanket that Colton was still finishing up.

The exquisite room was practically decorated by the multiple color yarn of magenta, pink, red, purple, indigo blue, and lavender, but the combination that created the blanket actually blended extremely well with the pattern of hearts and… voodoo dolls.

Am I even surprised?

I pulled back to my reality and opened my eyes to see the staring pair of hollow purple eyes staring back at me. My body froze on instinct, but the moment it clicked in my mind who this woman was, I let out the breath I’d been holding.

“Should I ask why you’ve changed into this form?” I questioned. “Or are you going to attempt to kill me while your mistress is sleeping?”

“What would make you think I was going to kill you?”Momo’s voice was woven with tainted energy while she cynically smiled.

“Your butcher knife is an inch away from cutting me.”

“You’ll respawn if I kill you by accident,”she argued.“No big deal.”

“You compliment Lexianne well,” I praised, which only encouraged the walls of disappointment that overtook her glowing eyes and the lines of her face.

“What’s wrong with you?”she asked the prime question of the night, and I bet if Lexianne was here, she’d ask me the same thing.

What is wrong with me?

“It’s like you’ve lost your spark or resolve in life,”she added.“That’s not how you’re supposed to act when you’ve rekindled your mate bond with the woman you’d forgotten.”
