With a snap of my fingers, she gasped and realized she could talk, and how she took advantage to turn her head my way.

And actually try to spit at me.

I stepped aside to miss the “attack”—if you can call it that—before she screamed, “How dare you try and silence me! You think you’re all-powerful and shit because Alpha Malifer is all interested in fucking you!” She raged. “I bet you use that virgin card as a fucking flex, don’t you!”

“Eh? She’s a virgin?” a demon spoke loudly as if it were such a shocking thing, which only ignited different responses from the demons.

“Wasn’t the rumored curse from above stated if a virgin was sacrificed, shit would go haywire?”

“That would make sense. Hasn’t shit been lively the last few days?”

“Is that why Alpha Malifer isn’t here already?”

“I heard his papa is plagued, but now with this new information, it makes sense!”

Felix and Fynn had moved to stand with Colton, the three of them remaining quiet as if they wanted to see what I was really planning, but I stared back at Laura with an emotionless expression that only enticed her further.

“You think you’re the shit because you got all these nasty men fighting to be the first to fuck you?! Well, you’re nothing to them! They can’t wait to use you like a damn condom and dump you in the trash! Travis only needs you to gain control of Demon Valley and then you’re nothing! I’ll be the queen and everyone will have to bow down to me!”

“What?” Felix and Fynn said in unison while Colton whistled.

“Surprise, surprise. That cat is finally out of the bag.”

“What did she just say?” the knight questioned while the crowd of demons suddenly became extra silent with Laura’s loud exclamation.

“I said what I said!” Laura was clearly on a train ride to oblivion because she didn’t care that we were all listening to the truth. “You think I’m going to continue living this boring fucking life, twiddling my thumbs in this forsaken shithole because I was sacrificed?! Alpha gets to go in and out of the valley but we can’t! What is there to even fucking do here? Fucking nothing, which is why I’ve been dealing with Travis Baker!”

“Ugh,” multiple demons groaned while the knight seemed just as annoyed as everyone else.

“Do you know who Travis fucking Baker is, you slut? He’s a fucking con artist. Even the fucking dead know his damn name.”

“Of course, she knows him,” a woman spoke up and walked out of the crowd with her arms crossed over her chest. She stood out because her hair was ruby red. “She’s been fucking him for years. I’m sure Alpha knows and doesn’t give two shits. We all know she’s the traitor who rejected him and pushed him off the cliff to perish. I guess she just didn’t think he’d obtain the power to create this place that harvests us.”

“Why the fuck are you even complaining?!” A fairy of the sorts came flying into view above the red-haired lady. “We were sacrificed! We were supposed to die, and not just ordinary die but stuck in this world forever! You’re bored now when Alpha gives us a huge space to do whatever we want?”

“Not to mention he does let us use Amazon Prime to order stuff from the surface,” a demon randomly pitched in.

“He trains us when he can as well. No one is going to stand here and say their lives were all fine and dandy in their packs. If that were true, why are we all here?”

No one could say anything to that comment, and I noticed the sight of a little girl who had to be at least eight. I was surprised by her presence as her pink hair reminded me of mine, though her eyes were gold.

“My pack throws children into the valley because we’re useless to them. Alpha Malifer was the first one to give me a Christmas gift!” she declared with pride, and fuck, that invited a moment of silence. “Where’s Alpha Malifer? He should be here by now.”

All eyes seemed to land on me before I looked down at Laura.

“Your Alpha is currently protecting an important artifact that’s at risk of being stolen by Travis Baker. Do you see how all of you have been able to do what you want? Freely live here since the moment you survived the trails and became an official demon recruit? Well, that’s all going to change because of this woman right here.” I gestured right at Laura to emphasize my point as I let my energy begin to rise.

“My name is Lexianne Monarch. I was once a part of Shade Moon Pack before I was sacrificed. Prior to being sacrificed, I was the healer of my pack and only valuable for that position alone. I never once stepped outside of pack territory, and I was treated like scum during the day hours,” I revealed. “At night, I was sent to a prison thirty feet underground and tortured until dawn by Alpha Shade. My virgin status wasn’t out of choice, but because I was threatened that if I lost my purity before I was eighteen, my mate would perish. That mate is Alpha Malifer Nightshade, Alpha Shade’s only son.”

“Only son?” a demon dared to ask. “What about Alpha Nathan Shade?”

I didn’t want to air all of Alpha’s dirty laundry, but this was the only way I’d get these demons to stay put until we returned with Alpha in tow.

It was time to tell them the truth so they would understand how far Alpha has been going to protect them from the lives they once begged to escape from.

“Alpha Malifer and Alpha Nathan are one unit. Malifer is your Alpha and the Creator of the Valley thanks to being sacrificed on these forbidden grounds, while Nathan is Malifer’s Maleficient Astra form. That state of power was forced upon your Alpha when he was but a child by his father who’s been experimenting and aiming towards creating the best pack of ruthless, cunning demons Hollow City has seen.”

“What?” the knight took another step forward. “You’re saying our Alpha who gave us this salvation is also the one who approved of our sacrifice?”
