The other demons paid close attention as I slowly nodded.

“Correct,” I began and slowly looked around them as if waiting for them to try and interrupt me. I knew they wouldn’t, especially when many of them began to look upward at the beast standing behind me.

“GRAWR?!” There was Bishop as he took the silent moment to howl into the dark abyss of the sky before he specifically looked down at Laura, as she was now trembling with wide eyes.

“Perfect timing, Bishop,” I praised the tainted hellhound as I lifted my left arm up. He immediately leaned his massive head down to allow me to pet his fur which sparked into black and orange flames before he looked at the crowd in front of us and growled menacingly.

A few demons scurried back while others hid behind the strong ones, but I easily calmed Bishop down with a few strokes.

“Don’t scare them, Bishop. We’re going to tell them the truth and they’ll decide what they wish for their fates to be. Hmm?”

“Gawrrr!” Bishop replied and moved away from me as if he were tired of staying in one place. He moved past Colton, Felix, and Fynn and walked in a circle a few times. With a burst of flames, the three men from the last trial appeared in their vined misery—their expressions seemingly lifeless as they stared blankly forward.

I actually felt a tad sorry for them with how zombie-looking they appeared, but this was going to be their life for, well, all eternity, so I wasn’t going to stop the endless torture of being Bishop's new pet toys.

“Alpha Malifer’s sacrifice is uncalled for, but Alpha Shade clearly didn’t think the valley would become the way it has. Alpha Nathan cunningly choose those who were on the list to be sacrificed as an act to save those individuals who were being prematurely killed by their packs. Some of you were being sacrificed just to make room, while other packs concluded that some of you wouldn’t reach the potential they needed for a pack that should be ready for war.” I broke it all down. “We all may be demons now, but we’re not stupid. It's clear that sooner or later, a shifter war will commence and alliances were the priority.”

“What does this gotta do with us?” a demon spoke up. “I won’t be naive and ignore that Alpha’s actions saved us from the death penalties we would have experienced from our designated packs, but why does such information matter now that we’re demons minding our own business?”

“And what does that slutty bitch and Travis got to do with it?” another added.

“With me being sacrificed as a virgin, the curse placed on these lands is taking effect on his life. That’s a good thing, obviously, but now Alpha Shade is speeding up his plans. He’d set up a deal to make an alliance between Shade Moon Pack and Fox Moon Pack, which led to an explosion that has been reported to have killed Nathan Shade,” I elaborated. “Obviously, we all know that we can’t die. We can respawn, and Alpha Shade knows this because he’s now aware that Nathan and Malifer are the same individuals. This means that he most likely won’t assist with any more sacrifices, which also means that all of us here are the pack of demons Alpha Shade needs for his dominating plans for war.”

“But we’re minding our own business!” the other demon repeated. “We don’t want to participate in some stupid war.”

“That’s the thing,” I began and shrugged. “You’re not going to have a choice, which you can thank Laura for that.”

“No one can force us to do shit,” the knight snapped.

“That’s where you’re incorrect,” I announced. “The only ones who have power over you are the Rulers of Demon Valley. Alpha Malifer carries half the power of the valley which was bestowed upon these lands when he was sacrificed. Half of the valley’s power is what created this dark oasis where some of you have resided since the birth of its existence.”

“Then where’s the other half?” the red-haired woman asked as she eyed me carefully.

“Within me,” I declared. “My sacrifice bestowed upon me the remaining half of the valley’s power, which is why I’m on Baker’s and Alpha Shade’s shit list seeing as I may potentially fuck up their plans.”

“And those plans are?” the knight pressed.

“Baker has plotted to use Laura as an access point to Demon Valley,” I announced and gestured to the kneeling woman. “She exchanged being Baker’s feeding subject for sex, but little did she know Baker was extracting the demon energy from her tainted blood and using it to empower himself so he could unlock his own Maleficient Astra. There are now two Bakers roaming around Hollow City, and I’m going to make a safe guess that the Astra Baker is going to come to visit Demon Valley very shortly. Not to come to say hello or negotiate an alliance with us for the apparent war that’s brewing behind the scenes, but to overtake the valley and force you all to be under his ruling.”

“WHAT?!” Multiple gasps and roars of defiance echoed around us, but with a loud growl from Bishop, everyone shut up real quick.

“Laura, you fucking slut bitch!” The red-haired woman snarled. “You sold us out knowing we’d become fucking slaves?”

Laura huffed and sat on her knees to cross her arms over her chest and look away like she didn’t give a bloody shit.

“Y’all are always complaining about how boring the valley is and how y’all would rather be fucking dead! You guys didn’t have a problem with saying all that shit for the last few years. Travis has access to the surface world and connections with Shade Moon Pack. By us cooperating, he would have invited us into Shade Moon Pack and we would have been able to do whatever we want while making our enemies quiver in fear. I was doing you ungrateful bastards a favor!”

“You think Baker gives a shit about anyone but himself?” Felix spoke up and rolled his eyes. “Wow. I knew you were stupid, Laura, but this is on another level of absolute idiocy.”

“Did you even think of how bad that looks as a potential Luna? You took it upon yourself to sleep with the enemy and thought by selling the members under your Alpha’s ruling, you’d be given the same freedom you get here?” Fynn was outraged. “Do you guys literally not see the FREEDOM you receive here. Sure, the conditions aren’t the best, but at least we have a fucking home! We have a pack! We have the privilege to even walk outside our designated rooms when many of you were shackled and wore chains that were rusted and gave you fucking gangrene. Instead of taking his revenge and creating demons from scratch which Alpha had five years to do, he was willing put his Astra form at risk by continuing to deceive his own father by scouting for all of you over the years so you guys would get another shot at life without being slaves, and yet you have the nerve to say behind his back, ‘we don’t like ABCD?’ Like fuck, should we have made a damn HR department?”

“We’re all demons and yet you guys can’t even muster up the courage to tell Alpha your problems and concerns,” Felix added and shook his head. “Now look what your oversharing to the wrong person has caused? You told Laura, who took it upon herself to appoint herself Luna when Alpha Malifer never once showed interest. Nor has Laura shown the ability to control any of the forbidden beasts of these lands.”

Colton actually laughed which drew out attention to him as he was literally knitting.

“You disclosed all your problems to a woman who’s been focused only on her own survival. Not only did she have the intentions of being Baker’s ‘Luna’ and helping Baker rule you guys into submission, but she was requesting immunity so when the war does happen, she could be far away from the madness that all of us would be pulled into. Funny how it's so easy to turn on our own without a hint of remorse. If Alpha followed the same model, I bet a majority of you would be dead.”

No one said a thing so I decided to get to the real point.
