It seemed like a getaway of sorts.

“I can show you all of the Shadow Realm and you can explore with your mate together. When the seven days are up you can determine what you seek and if this path aligns with what you envision for yourself. What do you say?”

“That seems like a bargain worth taking,” I admitted. “Would…well…if Asher wanted to go along with it even though Beta Tobias and Alpha Azu wouldn’t get to be present, but if we decided to get married here first…”

“If that’s what you wish, we’d gladly accommodate everything needed to make the wedding the best it can be in this world,” Father assured me without letting me finish.

“You were always so supportive of me,” I muttered with a thankful smile. “Always believing I can achieve whatever I see in my mind.”

“You can manifest anything you wish, Selene,” he reminded me as if I’d forgotten. “All you have to do is believe what you can do and trust that the universe and our Mother Moon will continue to shield you until your purpose is complete.”

“Father…”

I can’t be more thankful.

“Seven days, and I’m sure, you’ll determine if it's all worth it,” he vowed and offered me his hands. Without a second of doubt, my hands were in his chilled ones and stared into his eyes that were filled with hope.

Seven days it is.

CHAPTER6

From Mated To Wife

“Okay. I shouldn’t be nervous. Well…okay. I’m nervous as fuck, but I’m marrying my mate, which is something I never really thought would happen to me. I guess it's okay to be nervous because I want this. Yes? Yes.”

“You’re going to grow grey strands by the time your mate sees you, Darling.”

My eyes widened as I looked back to see Nyx enter the black wood structure, I’d been residing in waiting for the ceremony ahead.

“Nyx? What are you doing here? Are our bodies okay in the surface world? What about Phyx, Juniper, Eira, Axel, and Abyss?” I was happy to see her but I worried something was wrong with her being present.

“Everything above the surface is fine and dandy,” she assured me. “Well, in terms of you and your mate's wellbeing,” she elaborated.

“Why do I feel like that means the Syndicate is going down under or something?” I pondered and watched her laugh as she approached.

“Clearly, your absence is felt rather drastically over there,” she revealed as she reached where I stood. “Many can’t figure out where you and Alpha Asher have gone. Adding the fact Beta Tobias Kenzo, Alpha Azu, and even Mercury haven’t been seen publicly for some time has those who never gave a shit about politics talking up a storm.”

“Oh no,” I commented and nervously looked at her. “Are you here to bring us back?”

The mere idea of leaving when we were about to do the private ceremony revolving around our union made me more anxious.

Five days had passed since our arrival at the Shadow Realm, and honestly, it was probably the most peaceful experience I’d endured in my life.

The world was truly a shadowed oasis, with very few structures aside from these huts created with black wood and black and purple leaves. The weather was sullen —not too hot and not too cold. I noticed Asher and I bodies were a lot hotter in temperature compared to the residence of the Shadow Realm which didn’t just consist of my pack members.

Asher’s parents and many executed Shadowborns had lived in the Shadow Realms since their deaths. Some said this was some sort of shadow purgatory, and they were waiting for the day a Celestial strong enough would discover this universal plane and aid towards their freedom.

They didn’t age here, so many who were but children many years ago were still the same while just like the elderly. Asher inquired if they were fine with such circumstances and returning to the world when a good fifteen years had passed, and they all voiced that anything was fine for as long as they rose in the occurrence of aiding in our rise to power.

That’s what really blew my mind.

That instead of the idea of obtaining freedom and living again, they only wished to leave if it would bring aid to Shadowborns redemption arc. Not only did we deserve to keep this sacred place to ourselves but to take back our place on the ladder of power so our kind would never be slain in the masses again.

It reminds me of a plan of revolution, and I honestly was all down for it.

Asher, however, was realistic and made it very clear that I wouldn’t be rushed into such rituals until I was ready to perform such intense spell work. My well-being was his priority, and though he was happy that we’d ventured here to confirm I’d be able to morph this desolate world into something as grand as Faerie one day, she emphasized that it would be in a timely manner.

Overprotective Alpha.
