“Really,” he assured me and pulled me into his arms for a hug. “As long as I get dessert afterward.”

“That can be arranged,” I purred. “Plus, Abyss owes Eira a ride.”

“A ride?” Asher pulled back to look at me, but with a blink, Abyss was in control, which made my body tingle as Eira moved from the shadows to observe her wolf counterpart.

“Unlike my smitten host, I remember clearly what ‘ride’ my Eira is referring to.”

“Aww. Trying to get her out of the shadows?” I teased and watched him give me a centimeter smirk.

“I know she’s already out and observing me,”Abyss declared without a hint of doubt. I looked to Eira in my mind. The glance we exchanged encouraged her to pull into control until she was further lifting her head up to exaggerate her gaze that went from head to toe of the Alpha Shadowborn.

“Observant.”

“You enjoy that quality of mine.”

“Sadly.”Eira shrugged.“Wrap things up so we can get to more important interactions.”

“As you wish,”he assured her and lifted his fist. She couldn’t fight the smirk that dawned on our lips while she lifted our left fist to show off our ring.

“You have to switch fists,”she emphasized.“Too precious to bump.”

“Ah,”he exaggerated the sound, and yet his tiny smirk blossomed into a full grin as he switched fists just like we did.“Better?”

Our fists bumped together before Eira bobbed her head.

“Better.”

With one last look, they both pulled back, which left us needing a moment to blink out the daze.

“You really love your rings, huh?” Asher muttered while I grinned proudly and showed him my hand as if the man hadn’t been the one to buy the piece of jewelry.

“Admit it! It’s the most gorgeous thing you’ve seen!”

“Aside from you,” he corrected, and I needed a moment to absorb his words before I muttered, “Smooth talker.”

“You absolutely love it,” he acknowledged. “You get butterflies.”

“Shut up!” I huffed and slapped his arm, but it did nothing as usual because he was all muscled up like we hadn’t had a week off —or in Shifter Syndicate time, seven weeks.

“I feel as though they forgot we exist,” Kenzo casually noted to Tobias.

“Probably, but they really look happy though. All that sexual tension has been tamed.”

“I bet,” Kenzo commented. “I swore I thought we were going to die when the world started shaking in the Shadow Realm yesterday.”

“Same. I actually thought it was an earthquake or even an ambush,” Tobias confessed. “Good thing we didn’t check on Azu to see if it was him.”

“He’d probably be so mad if we came over to ask if he triggered those tremors,” Kenzo noted and shivered.

“He gets enough of that shit from everyone else,” Tobias pointed out.

We were staring at them as they conversed, to the point that they paused their conversation to look our way.

“Oh,” they said in unison as they clearly realized they had fallen into the same trap as we did — getting so wrapped in their conversation with their mate that they forgot the rest of the world existed. “Ya. We should be on our way,” Tobias encouraged and looked to Asher, who nodded in agreement.

“Fifteen minutes,” Asher stressed and gave me a final kiss before fixing my lengthy fur coat that rested on my shoulders. Since it was such a warm coat, I wore black leather shorts and a black tank top.

That left my markings on full display, but I didn’t care as usual.
