Their desperation was what ground me to the core to get things rolling faster just so I could finally let her in on it all, but that also relied on our blossoming relationship that triggered our mate bond with the blessings of Mother Moon herself.

“Actions speak louder than words,” I repeated those haunting words back to her so she knew I was listening to every single thing she said. “So let me take action so you can see how far I’m willing to go to make your happiness last forever, Selene.”

I placed the ring box below as I retrieved the ring and presented it to her.

The way my stomach dropped and the nerves that confused me almost made me want to pass out, but I reeled them all in so I could ask the inevitable question with nothing but confidence.

“Selene Everly Bleu,” I repeated, “will you marry me?”

I held my breath and awaited her answer.

The tendrils of emotions flooding me were the first to tell me what she was about to state, but my ears craved to hear it.

To forever repeat the words she was about to say.

“I will.” Her voice was so soft I barely heard her, but she sniffed and bobbed her head a few times — tears spilling down her face effortlessly as she reaffirmed her statement loud and clear. “Yes, Asher. I’ll…marry you.”

Relief flooded me as all the rigid energy washed away from my limbs, and it took everything I had to keep my front as I slipped the ring onto her finger.

We shivered in unison as the ring sent out a unique vibration that seemed to affect the two of us as it settled at the base of her ring finger and began to glow with immense power.

We watched in amazement as incantations surfaced on Selene’s fingers — our lingering touch only encouraging incantations of red to form along my hands, starting from the ones that continued to hold the ring.

They spread and empowered us as if it was another tunnel of reinforcement that wrapped around our mate connection and solidified it further.

With a blink, her eyes were mismatched, and I was certain mine were too, but the energy seemed to finally lock in place.

Sealing our request into the atmosphere.

We shared a look as my tears finally ran free, and that was when the humming chants of praise began.

One after another, each individual began to chant a set of words in a language I recalled from the times when my parents were alive.

They chanted, again and again, the sound growing stronger as they began to clap their hands and lift them up in celebration.

Children began to dance, elders prayed and gave thanks to our Mother in the sky, and as if sharing the same thoughts, we peered over to her father to see his approving grin as he joined in the chants, which only further empowered the pack around us.

I looked up at Selene as she began to sob, and I didn’t delay embracing her before I began to spin her around in pure happiness.

She laughed and cried, just like I was — the two of us lost in the spiraling sorrow and joyfulness our union had delivered.

When we stilled, I hugged her as tightly as I could, and she did too as if neither of us wished to depart from the lands that were supposed to be our homeland.

The place where our roots and future would lay.

I knew we’d be back in the garage any moment, so I pulled back to look into her eyes and was satisfied to see the love that blossomed in return.

She finally understood.

She realized I would never be her enemy.

I would be only her protector, lover, Alpha, and partner from this moment onward.

And in the near future…her husband.

“Thank you.” That was all she could manage. I was sure she wanted to cry all over again.

I nodded and slowly moved to press my forehead against hers, the two of us having a single moment while surrounded by the chanting praise of her pack members.
