“Oh no,” I whined.

“He asked if he can order two containers full of this stuff. Guess he likes when you’re appeased.”

“Two containers full?” I gasped and leaned in close. “And you agreed?”

“Apparently it's the least favorite bar in the East, but if you like them, I can’t just order more.”

“You’re the best Alpha ever!” I declared with glee.

“Don’t let Asher hear you say that,” he encouraged with a wide grin. “Are you on break?”

“Yes. I figured a good walk would help. I’ve been getting dizzy spells and such. Mercury thinks it’s because of…” I trailed off while I slowly glanced over to Xenon. “Why are you here? You ate me.”

He rolled his eyes. “I have business with Alpha Azu and Beta Mercury.”

“And not with me,” I voiced the obvious. “So you don’t need to stand there.”

“Suck it up, pup,” he huffed and glanced away.

“Hmph. Just wait. I’m gonna figure a way to get Asher to beat your ass.”

He looked back at me with those venomous eyes and I didn’t back down either as I narrowed my eyes and glared. It was like a silent contest between us until he frowned.

“When did your aura change?”

Random as fuck?

“What?” I questioned. “And I totally won that staring contest.”

“When did your aura change,” he repeated in a more serious tone.

“My aura hasn’t changed at all,” I emphasized. “Why is my aura bothering you?”

He wanted to say something but held his tongue as he simply stared at me.

“You’re weird,” I concluded and began nibbling on my granola bar to the point I actually wasn’t paying attention to either of them. “If I have two containers full of these bad boys, how long is that going to last?”

“Disgusting,” Xenon commented but I ignored him. “Where’s the other brat?”

“You mean Kenzo?” Azu inquired. “He’s nearby taking photos. He wanted to get some photos of Selene fighting with Mercury with the new camera Tobias bought him or something. Apparently, it's waterproof.”

“Why would anyone seek to take photos underwater?”

Azu just chuckled. “You’ll have to ask the Fae.”

“I’m gonna get Amaya and ditch.”

“That bitch is here?” I whined, the mention of her name irritated me down to the core.

“Sadly,” Xenon muttered.

“You actually sound like you despise the idea of being around her and yet you always tagging along with her,” I voiced the obvious. “Like you’re her pet or something.”

“I do not,” he growled.

“You do.” I wasn’t backing down on this one. “You don’t realize it? You’re always around her even though it looks like you don’t give a shit about her existence.”

“I don’t.”
