Back in the hotel room, Anna tore at Gage’s clothes. He had her jeans undone and off her before Romeo could even yowl. They fell into bed, and Gage stroked her urgently, leaving her quivering. Her body came alive under his hands, and she knew she’d do anything to keep this—to keep him.

He put on a condom and then invited her to straddle him. She could feel him shaking beneath her. She tipped her hips and guided him inside. She wanted…oh, she wanted.

Tension spiraled through her, warming her, centering her. Moaning, he kissed her, lacing his fingers through her hair as they rocked together. She gave in to the pleasure and came with a jolt, a sharp gasp startled out of her, and in the next instant, she felt him shudder as he reached his peak.

She lay in his arms, breathing hard, their overheated bodies cooling, until Romeo’s piteous meows pulled her upright. “I’ve got to feed him—and God knows what he’s been doing for a litter box.”

Gage pulled her back down. “Already took care of it with the hotel staff. Don’t listen to him—he had salmon for dinner, and his litter box has been set up and changed twice.”

She laughed. “Great—he’s spoiled already.” She stroked a hand down his face. “How long will you be gone?”

He shook his head. “Don’t know. But when this is over—”

She put her fingers over his lips. “No. No promises.”

“But I want to make them. You make me want to make them. I want to promise you everything—except I don’t know if I can deliver.”

She smiled. “You damn well better. I’m Anna Middleton, Eloise’s daughter. And I expect not to be disappointed.”

Hugging her tightly, he kissed her. “I will be back. That Iwillpromise.”

“You better, Gage Jackelson, or I’m coming after you. Understood?”

He touched a fingertip to her nose. “I’m falling in love with you, Anna Middleton, Eloise’s daughter—a little more every day. I came into that studio looking for intel, and then you hit me upside the head. You’re already changing my life, and I can’t wait to see what comes next. Move into my place, and keep the light on for me, will you, honey?”

Smile widening, she nodded. “Absolutely. But Romeo’s still wanting attention, so we’re getting up, you’re helping me move into your place, and then…in a couple of days, you can take off with the guys. But before then, I want some naked time with you. Lots of naked time.”

He grinned. “I can work with that.”

SEAL TEAM TEN BOOK 1

BLURB

Danger lurks around every corner… but it’s romance that comes as the biggest surprise

Navy SEAL Scotty Devonshire has one weakness: women. But a long-term relationship? That’s not his style—until Hayley Stevens walks into his life. All he wants is to find his SEAL teammate’s widow and clear his buddies’ names. Turns out Hayley, a hacker extraordinaire, is trying to find the same woman. Hayley’s smart, cute, and more fascinating than any woman Scotty has ever been with. He can’t get her out of his head, no matter how hard he tries.

Hayley is shocked to find that she and Scotty are searching for the same person. And she’s not so sure that Scotty and his teammates are as innocent as they claim. But despite her doubts, she can’t help but be attracted to the sexy SEAL. That chiseled body, those dreamy blue eyes… It’s only a matter of time before she gives in to smoldering temptation.

But when the two find themselves fighting for their lives, they both begin to wonder… will they live long enough to confess how they really feel about each other?

If Scotty Devonshire didn’t know better, he’d have thought he was in some kind of freaking fairy-tale forest and not a suburban Washington, DC, street, with the way the birds sang and the sun shot through the tiny buds peppering the tree limbs, making them glow night-vision green. But this was no kids’ story, and he sure as hell wasn’t Prince Charming.

Before climbing out of the taxi and paying the driver, he did a quick recon of the exterior of the surrounding houses. You could never be too careful when it came to making sure you weren’t being followed—especially now. Once he was certain he was alone and unobserved, he slipped his aviator shades into place, focusing on one house in particular. A ramshackle two-story with cracked windows and peeling paint.

His source at the NSA had given him this address as the last known residence of romance author N.T. Smalls, the pen name of the widow of their fallen comrade and SEAL team leader, Nick Matthews. Scotty checked for traffic, then jogged across the street. Seemed no one had been around for a while. His hopes of finding any useful leads at the location plummeted.

He let out a strained chuckle at the thought that Nick would have been so much better at this—would have been smarter, quicker, more savvy when it came to figuring out why a member of their team had been sniped in the middle of a mission by an unknown assailant. Nick would have figured it all out by now…but Nick wasn’t there to find the answers for them, because he was the one who’d been taken down in the midst of his teammates, who hadn’t been able to do a damn thing to stop it.

Scotty shook his head and focused on the task at hand.

Officially, they were suspended while the Navy investigated Nick’s death. Unofficially, they were conducting an investigation of their own. Nick deserved justice, and Scotty and the other remaining members of SEAL Team Ten were determined to find the truth.

So far, they hadn’t found much. It seemed to tie back to former SEAL Michael Becks, the only survivor from the doomed SEAL Team Four. Becks seemed to have a grudge against them that Scotty was at a loss to explain. Their recent near-fatal encounter with Becks had centered around a book manuscript that included coded messages, including information about Nick, the CIA, and God knew what else.
