“Fuck you, Grace,” he said without hesitation. But he didn’t move.

“I get you don’t notice,” I said as I waved my hand. “You’re just gonna see me as a leech, like I’m not busting my ass at the dealership.” I paused as I considered. “Is that why you haven’t said anything to Dad?”

He shrugged, looking unaffected. His jaw worked and he glanced back at Shay. “I’m assuming you had something to do with this?” he asked her. “What was the point of all of it?”

Shay raised her chin. “To knock that ego of yours down a peg or two.” She folded her arms over her chest, doing a better job of matching his energy than I could. “Show you that you ain’t shit.”

Kyle’s expression closed, and his glower was aimed at Shay now. “You fuck Cam and Adam too?”

Shay’s lips twisted up to one side, and she raised a brow. “You scared they were a better lay than you?” she asked, then she gave me a beautiful smile, tilting her head back. “Cam’s dick is so big I thought he was literally going to bust my back out when he was giving it to me. Adam’s got this thing he does with his hips.” She stopped talking to whistle. “Best sex I’ve ever had.”

My mouth dropped open. It was a lie, and I knew it. There was no way she would’ve gotten into bed with Cam and Adam in the past few weeks. Even when I had been working my ass off. Right? I bit my lip and resisted the urge to show anything.

Kyle’s reaction was enough. “Fucking whores,” he growled out, and pushed his way past Shay. She didn’t even try to follow him. The slam of the door was enough for her.

“I’m gonna accuse you of lying,” I said carefully, “because that wasn’t in the plan, but I can’t account for what happened when all this shit fell apart.”

“Look, if I had a few drinks in me, I might consider letting two men rail me at once. But I’m not gonna make the same bad decisions you made with the same men,” she said as she came to stand just inside my bedroom. “That and I figured if I were to go through your men that you would hold it against me.” She eyed me. “What are you doing home?”

“I overslept,” I admitted, pulling my knees to my chest. “I let Adam talk me into calling in.” I looked away from her. “I came home because I was exhausted, and if I had stayed at Adam’s place, I would’ve ended up in bed with him again.” I shook my head. “I don’t think sex is gonna help the situation I created. Especially if I want it to be more than just sex.”

Shay took a moment to step out of her heels. She released a breath and came to sit on my bed. She pulled the silky ends of her blouse from the pencil skirt she wore. She took advantage of my position and flopped backward onto my mattress. “You’re still stuck on that idea?” she asked, her attention on the ceiling.

“I felt something,” I began uneasily. “Something I haven’t felt with anyone else.” I paused, biting my lip. The more I dwelled on it—my reason for needing all three of the men I had been with—the more it made sense. “I was the center of attention for all three of them. Even when we were all together.”

She hummed, then made a face. “It sounds appealing, and I’d want to hear more, but I know my brother was involved in it.” Her gaze met mine. “Did it make you feel loved?”

I looked away. I wanted to lie back down and burrow back into my blankets. I didn’t want to answer her question. But the longer I sat there with Shay stretched out on my bed, the more I knew I had to face her question.

“I don’t know if it was love,” I admitted. “I don’t want to assume it was and be wrong.”

“That would hurt,” she agreed. “Even if it was just one of them saying they didn’t care.” She turned on her side. “But why brush off sex with just Adam? Are you not comfortable with one-on-one sex?” She propped her cheek upon her hand, watching me in a way that felt calculating. “Are you afraid it will make you want to choose?”

My head started shaking before I could think of an answer. “The first time I was with Darius, it was just me and him. There was something there, but there was something with Adam and Cam. I don’t know that I could choose.”

Shay sat up and scooted closer to me. “I think we should test that theory.” She adjusted her skirt, eyeing me through her lashes. “I’ll talk to Darius and get him to get over himself. If you agree to be with each of your men one-on-one.”

“What if I’m still in this same position where I can’t choose?”

Shay shrugged. “Then you’ll have to see if the three of them want to be all in it.” She moved to get up out of my bed. She unzipped her skirt and even went as far as pushing it off her hips. The blouse she wore covered her butt, and I didn’t think twice about it. I knew that feeling of needing to get out of work clothes. “If that’s how it works out, I can’t hold it against you.”

“Are you holding the current situation against me?” I asked her. We hadn’t settled things between us from when I barged into her work and accused her of pulling Kyle into it. After the exchange between them, it was obvious she wasn’t responsible for it.

She turned to look at me. “You fucking everybody was something I encouraged. I don’t think it’s fair for me to hate you for that. I might not understand it.” She nodded. “I get it to a point, though I might not want to do it myself.” She paused. “Maybe. I’ll reconsider if the right men are involved.”

“I meant with how I handled things,” I clarified. “At your job.”

Shay just snorted. “Buy me dinner. Something good and expensive. Tell me I’m pretty and I don’t need no man.” She started out of my bedroom, pointedly taking off her bra. “And I’ll consider us even.”

“So chocolate too?”

“Bitch, you better buy me chocolate.”

Chapter 12

Darius

“What are you doing?” Shay asked by way of greeting. “Why are you dodging me?”
