His touch terrifies me, and I twist away, trying to break free. My dress is almost up around my waist, and the shocking certainty drives home. This revolting man is going to be my first. I shove him with every bit of strength I have. He grabs my arm, and as I wrestle free, my hand slips, and my finger pokes him in the eye.

Stunned, he releases me, and I sprint away. I'm sure he’s following me, but I realize the thudding sound is my pulse pounding in my ears.

Turning the corner, I run straight into a tall, hard wall of muscle. Fuck, not another one!

I squeeze my eyes shut and use every ounce of the adrenaline flooding my system to give me enough strength to drive my knee straight into his balls.

LOST & FOUND

Ivy

Easton doubles over in pain, clutching his private parts. Gasping, I reach for his arm before he hits the ground. Although by the look on his face, I better step away before he hurls.

"Easton, are you okay?"

He grunts.

"Oh geez, I didn't mean to hurt you! But there was this guy, and--"

He looks up, his eyes narrowly focused on something behind me, a look of disgust on his face.

I turn to see if it's the guy who attacked me, but I only catch a glimpse of a shadow. If it was him, I want him gone and to get out of this place.

"What happened? Did he hurt you?" Easton rests a hand on my shoulder.

"I'm okay." I draw a shuddery breath.

Our eyes meet, and a sense of comfort flows from his hand into my tense muscles.

"Come here," he says as he wraps his arms around me, drawing me close. A rush of emotion washes over me, and I twine my arms around his neck, burying my face in his soft, black sweater.

More tension melts away as he rubs my back.

"Ivy, what are you doing down here? The restrooms are that way." I ease myself out of his embrace and look at where he's pointing.

Wow, I was miles off.

"I lost my way and ran into one of the guys who hit on me at the bar. He slinked away when you came to talk to me.”

"I remember him." Easton scrubs a hand over his face. "He wasn't happy you gave him the cold shoulder." Easton bites out the words, the tension in his jaw revealing his feelings.

I nod because, of course, he's right.

"Fuck. What an asshole," he says.

"Thanks for coming to find me."

What happened wasn't my fault. I have every right to reject a man's advances, but I am grateful Easton came looking for me.

"I got a bad feeling," he says, casually threading our fingers together.

Now the immediate danger is over, and I’m safe with him. I feel lighter. "Why? You couldn't believe I'd change my mind and walk out on you?" I sass as my sense of humor returns.

A dark cloud crosses over Easton's face.

Embarrassed, I roll my eyes and look away. "Sorry. Bad joke."
