Yarvok moves his face up and kisses my lips. He presses in, harder, taking control. His tongue explores my mouth while his hand explores my nether lips.

He easily works two thick fingers inside of me, hooking them upward while his thumb toys with my clit. I cry out into his mouth, gagged by his tongue, unable to do anything but writhe with pleasure as he does what he wants with me.

Yarvok rears up, sliding his hips between my thighs. He pulls his thick cock out and glides it inside of me. I moan when he goes in all the way, stretching me and filling me until I clutch at him with all four limbs.

He rocks his hips, his body straining against my own in ecstasy. Our mutual cries of passion mingle with the coming of the night insects and the calls of twilight birds.

We lay panting together as my body shakes from the aftershocks of climax. I run my hand over his belly and wonder how fast I can get him ‘ready’ again with my hand when it happens.

The proximity alarm goes off.

Thirty-Two

Yarvok

Out of all the rotten times this could happen!

I leap up off the lounger, pull on my shorts and run for the edge of the veranda railing. Nighttime has just settled over the ranch, the sky that peculiar shade of dark blue where it’s not quite night but no longer twilight.

The security lights have not even come on yet, because it’s not quite dark enough. The warning lights, on the other hand, are in full bloom. Yellow lights flash brightly from the Northwest perimeter fence.

My ears detect something above the din of the alarm. It sounds something akin to thunder. Then I spot an undulating blue and white shape rampaging across the construction site.

“What is that?” Olivia joins me at the railing, her face still glistening with sweat. She’s pulled on a bathrobe to cover her nakedness.

“It’s a megafauna species known as D’lorean,” I growl.

“Um, they don’t eat people, do they?”

“No, they are herbivores, but their sheer size can cause a great deal of harm. Something has caused them to stampede.”

“Like what?”

“I do not know, but we must attempt to turn the herd aside before they cause more destruction than we can possibly repair.”

“If we’re not too late for that already.”

I leap over the veranda and land in a crouch in the grassy area beyond. My legs flash as I stretch them out and race over the open ground. I’ll be at the brewery in mere seconds, but I might already be too late.

I run up close enough to make out the D’lorean through the cloud of dust surrounding them. Their plump, arched bodies and short stubby legs belie how quickly they can run. They have no natural defenses other than their size and ability to run and herd together.

With a final burst of speed, I leap onto the back of one of the lead D’lorean. I dig in my heels and pull hard on its floppy ears until it turns away from the brewery’s main building.

The D’lorean crashes into the one beside it, which sets off a chain reaction. I grab a livestock prod and start zapping the creatures, gradually getting them to move back in the direction they have come.

They run back through the hole in the fence they made, out into the night. I turn around and groan at the sight of the brewery. They didn’t trample it into dust but they’ve done a lot of damage.

Worse, I can see that a fire has broken out on the second floor of the brewery. I have to go and put it out before it spreads too far—

An ear splitting roar shakes me to my core. I swallow the lump of fear in my throat. I’m not afraid for my own sake, but for Olivia’s. I know what that roar is.

Big as they are, there is only one creature on New Verdan that preys upon them. It’s a mega predator, and thankfully quite rare. It is the stuff of nightmares, a bogey man which parents use to frighten their children into obedience and bedtimes.

It is the New Verdan Rork, and it’s coming this way.

I rush up to the fence to see if maybe I can get it repaired in time to repel the beast. My heart sinks when I see the thirty foot long hole the stampede made. No way can this be fixed in time.

The ground shakes, and I hear the roar again, this time much closer. I rush back toward the main house. It burns, no pun intended, that I can’t take a moment to put out the fire.
