Everyone in the bridal suite was much louder than I expected. The joy and love that flowed through the room was hard to ignore. Helping her into her dress I fastened the buttons up her back.

“Nic, this dress was made for you. You look…” Waving my hand over my face I knew the makeup artist would kill me if I started crying again. Worse if I made Nicole cry.

“Stop it right now. It’s bad enough I’m going to lose it when I see Cole. I don’t need you setting me off too.”

“I’m sorry. I’ll stop. I just wasn’t prepared for you to look this perfect. Cole is one lucky man.”

She turned around, wrapping her arms around me.“Oh, he knows.”

Chapter Twelve

Bryce

“Wake up lover boy. You need to get ready.” Evan kicked the edge of my bed, waking me abruptly. My head was pounding and I couldn’t even remember where the hell I was.

“You think he even remembers last night?” Luke’s voice joined the room as I yanked a pillow over my head.

“Go away.”

“Aww, little brother, a little hungover this morning? Poor baby.”

Throwing another pillow across the room blindly they both laughed.

“Bet he regrets that game last night. Although there is a pretty good chance he doesn’t remember it. You think he remembers sunshine?”

Bolting up in the bed my head pounded. I needed something for this hangover.

“What the hell are you two talking about? Why are you even here? Fuck, my head hurts. What the hell time is it?”

Evan leaned against the doorframe of my room with a weird green-colored drink. Holding it out to me he laughed as he crossed the room.

“First, drink this. It’ll make you feel at least somewhat better. Second, you missed the meeting this morning it’s nine already. We hired sunshine, figured you wouldn’t mind.”

Taking the drink I knew exactly how awful this was going to taste. I had only ever had it one other time. The night I turned twenty-one. My brothers decided getting me completely wasted was an initiation process I wasn’t getting out of. After that night I didn’t drink as heavily. I also learned that the game whiskey truth was never in your best interest. Unless you had absolutely no secrets whatsoever.

Trying to process his words I pieced them together slowly. Meeting, I felt like I knew about a meeting. What was it for? My head pounded harder the more I tried to think about it. Until little bits of the information came back to me.Shit. Shit. Shit. No, why the hell were they calling Hannah sunshine?

I vaguely remember agreeing to a game of whiskey truth last night. I had come back from the hotel on such a high after kissing her I couldn’t sleep or even think straight so I had a few more beers.

I think Evan showed up first telling me that Hannah was coming by early in the morning for a meeting and asked if I cared about them hiring someone new. He was talking about her in a way I hadn’t seen my family respond to anyone other than Lilly when she showed up.

Within an hour Luke and Hunter were on my couch pouring whiskey asking questions. Why the hell couldn’t I remember a single question they asked me last night?

“So how much of last night do you remember?”I looked up at Luke while trying to take down the rest of the homemade remedy before I threw up.

“Basically nothing. Why the hell did you do that to me? You knew I was going to keep up with you guys and I have a wedding to go to today. Any other day is whatever. Today actually matters.”

“Oh, we know. You told us. Hence why you’re in the shape you’re in right now. So you and sunshine? You plan to actually tell her what an idiot you are today or do we have to sit around while she works here and act like we don’t know.”

“Why do you keep calling her sunshine?” Wincing as the gulp slid down my throat I waited for an answer. They looked back and forth deciding who was going to tell me what I said last night and how much damage control I needed.

“That’s what you kept calling her last night. Won’t lie, it took us a while to figure out who it was. I believe it was about one-thirty in the morning when you finally said Hannah was your sunshine. Also told us you finally kissed her. Two years little bro? How the hell do you not make a move for two years on someone you clearly think about all the time? She had been by here a few times. We did not know she knew you.”

Burying my face into my hands I fell back onto my pillows. This day couldn’t get any worse. Then I realized they had a meeting with her this morning and more than likely said something.

“Please tell me you didn’t…”

“We didn’t say anything to her. We waited until after to let Claire and Devin in on what was going on. They think it’s cute by the way.”
