“Morgan. I’m this idiots’ best friend.” She threw her thumb up toward where Evan was standing.

Evan grasped his chest with his hand, dramatically stumbling backwards.

“Excuse you. I am not an idiot. You were just about to declare your love for me before Hannah walked up.”

“I was not. Don’t believe a word this one says. His mouth is almost as big as his ego.”

Evan opened his mouth and shut it quickly. A sly grin covering his face.“Big just like my… you know never mind. Not going to say it. I’m walking away now.”

Turning on his heel, he moved toward the back of the barn. Morgan shifted uncomfortably as she watched him walk away. I had seen that look before. Hell, I had that look before. A part of me wanted to say something, but I knew it wasn’t my place. She was crushing hard on him.

“Well, it’s a pleasure to meet you Morgan. You work at the store right?”

“Yes. I can’t believe Bryce is actually doing that whole, bull riding thing. I haven’t seen him ride but Evan and the boys have all been gloating about how amazing their little brother is.”

A chill ran through me. He was a sight to be seen. Although, I was impartial since I thought he was absolutely amazing on and off a bull. We had barely been dating yet I took such pride when he was being complimented.

“He is pretty spectacular to watch. So you and Evan, you’ve been friends a while?”

“Yes, best friends since forever. We grew up together so I’ve known the family since we were little. I will say I miss having Bryce around. He used to be fun to work with, minus his comments about Evan and I.”

I nodded, knowing exactly what Bryce was probably thinking. I would have to bring it up next time we talked.“They’re a really great family.”Keeping my thoughts about Bryce being home to myself, an awkward silence fell between us.

“If you’re ever in the mood for some really delicious pastries, we always have a variety at the store.”

A blush fell over her cheeks as she spoke. Bryce had mentioned that Evans' best friend made amazing pastries but was hesitant about her skills. I didn’t realize Morgan was that girl.

“I’ll have to check it out. Bryce told me the chocolate cupcakes are to die for.”

“Bryce is a sucker for anything chocolate. I don’t know if you knew that yet. Little word of advice, the way to any Gregory’s heart is through his stomach.”

My mind flashed back to our day together after the wedding. His gigantic chocolate ice cream cone, covered in chocolate hard shell, and chocolate sprinkles. The way when I asked for a taste he smeared it against my face. Promptly licking me clear of the mess he made. Goosebumps prickle my skin at the thought of how tenderly he made love to me after. The kisses he planted down my torso, mumbling words of devotion with each one.

“Yes, I noticed that. Thanks though for the tip.”

Morgan excused herself, having to get back to work. Evan was busy shoving the last bite of his sandwich in his mouth when I rounded the corner of the barn. Standing at the edge of his open tailgate he eyed me up and down.

“Everything okay sunshine?”

“Yeah. I just wanted to talk to you about something.”

Biting the inside of my cheek I worried he might get defensive about what I was about to say. It was an uncomfortable conversation for me any time I wanted to tell a Gregory what to do on their own farm.

He swallowed down the bite of food and took a quick swig of his water. “Alright, spit it out. No use making me think the worst.”

“You’re right. I noticed that when people have been coming by to see the animals a lot of them mentioned they wish they could do like kids’ parties where they got to help with tasks for the animals. Feeding or whatever. Is that something we could do?”

His body shifted as he hopped down off the back of his truck. With a loud click, he closed the tailgate. I could see the wheels turning as he digested my suggestion.

“Hannah, I’ve been trying to tell my sister that for years. Around here the only things that get approved quickly are Devins ideas. Bring it up to him and you will get the answer. I think it’s a great idea. More work for me but it is what it is. Especially with Bryce gone it’s been tough.”

Holding back my cringe, I knew how much they missed and needed him. Part of me felt responsible for his leaving. Cole had made a comment that if it wasn’t for me, Bryce wouldn’t have ever gone through with riding.

“Alright, I’ll make sure to talk to him. For what it’s worth, I may not be much help, but you can always ask if you need another set of hands.”

“Thanks Hannah. I’m glad my brother finally grew a pair and made a move. You’re a special girl sunshine.”

Blush fell over my face at his words. What was I supposed to say to that?
