Chapter Twenty Nine

Hannah

An hour was enough time to get myself in line. He hurt me, I couldn’t forget that. No matter how much his words stung when he said he wanted me. That he loved me. He was begging me for another chance. A chance, as his brothers so nicely pointed out, he didn’t deserve.

No matter what he said when I got there I wasn’t going to let him touch me. Absolutely not. What did that say about me as a person if I went crawling back that quickly?

Standing at his doorstep, the same one I had walked in dozens of times, a chill ran through me.You can do this. The voice of confidence shouted its way to the surface. The light of his porch was blocked out as my eyes clamped shut and my lungs took in all the fresh oxygen they could.

Gently knocking it didn’t feel right to just walk in. Nothing prepared me for this moment. When he opened the door and stumbled over his words inviting me in. The once confident Bryce who was simply asking for the empty chair next to me at the pool was gone. Replaced by a man who was broken and hurting.

He finally spoke, “anything you want.” They aren’t seductive or pleading. It’s a statement. He is willing to give up what he is good at. The one dream he always wanted if it’s what will get me to say he has another chance. All at once the stories everyone told me rushed into me. The force of their words nearly knocked me over.

Bryce always did what everyone else wanted. He was the textbook definition of a people-pleaser. When things got tough in his life, when people let him down he ran out and found someone else who needed him and did anything they asked.

Repeating that cycle wouldn’t be fair. Bryce was asking me for another chance. Agreeing to give up and do anything just for me. The tingle of adrenaline started at my toes and worked its way up.

“Kiss me.”

The phrase fell out before I could think better of it. Bryce was mine forever. I knew that already. Even when I convinced myself that what my brother did was my fault. Two weeks away from him opened my eyes.

Every time I had a good day I wanted to call him. When Luke or Evan were being ridiculous, Bryce was who I wanted to tell. When Morgan and Claire brought me to my house, he was the one I could see in every inch of the place.

When he didn’t move, I stepped closer.

“Unless you don’t want to Bryce. I want you to do whatyouwantto do.”

The tips of his fingers brushed against my neck, siding against my skin until they were grasping me on both sides. Memorizing my face, he stared back at me for a long moment. The pain and shame swirling in the pools of doubt his eyes housed now. My hand slid up his chest, resting upon his heart. One that I could feel was racing.

Our foreheads rested against the others, the breath between us mingling with anticipation. Then, when it felt like an eternity had passed, his mouth got closer to mine. A soft, tentative kiss was gradually replaced by a more possessive one.

His left hand dropped from my neck. The grip of his fingers on my hip set off a mewl that was promptly caught in his mouth. Like a magnet, my hips thrust forward to get closer to him. The space between us was too much.

His tongue teased the seam of my lips and I was happy to oblige. Opening and inviting his to dart around mine, caressing my mouth with each sweep. I’m sure I still tasted like the chocolate cupcake I ate before I left Claire’s.

Pulling back, panting, his tongue darted along his lips. “Hannah?”

“Mm-hmm?” Even the few letters were unsteady and dripping with profound sadness at the loss of his lips on mine.

“I missed you, Hannah.”

The lump forming in my throat threatened an unsteady voice to reply.

“Touch me.”

His hips shifted in an all too familiar way. I didn’t need to look down to know why he was moving.

“Please Bryce, I don’t need you to quit the PBR. I don’t need anything but your hands on me right now.”

Tracing every dip and ridge of his torso with my fingers, his jaw tensed. A low growl slipped from his lips as I work on memorizing him. Wrapping his arm around my waist, he stepped into me forcing me back until I hit something. Glass crashed to the floor as I watched a lamp tip over. Opening my mouth to apologize he claimed me. In a way he never had before.

With each sweep his tongue made against mine he walked me further back until I’m pressed against the wall. My body was pinned between him and the wall. His hips ground hard against me as he forced me to straddle his leg. It was impossible to not rock my body, searching for relief.

“Fuck.” With his words my arms were drawn above my head, his entire body pressing hard against me. Craning my neck to give him better access his mouth sucked and nipped at my flesh. Tender kisses were being replaced with ravenous ones as he moved to my collarbone. His fingers tugged against the skin of my wrist as I writhed from the pleasure.

His mouth sucked against the thin fabric over my nipples. The sensation caused me to gasp and pout that he didn’t move my dress. Just as I had thought he pulled my breast from beneath the dress and flicked his tongue around my hardened peak.

“That feels so good Bryce.”
