“You’ll see.”

He took a seat across from me and leaned on his elbows. “Go on.”

“It’s not Christmas yet.” I looked at the box questioningly. I’d brought a couple things for Lucas, of course I had; I just hadn’t bothered to wrap anything yet.

“I know, but…eh…open this one.”

I dusted my hands off on a nearby napkin and looked at him for a minute. “You’re crazy, Lucas.”

“I know. It’s one of my best redeeming qualities. Now…” He motioned to the box. “Would you mind?”

I pushed the red bow off to the side then opened it, lifting the lid to find a Santa hat. I laughed, moving it out of the way to find a matching bright red bikini.

I raised an eyebrow at him.

“It’s Christmas.” He reached for his coffee. “And I figured you needed something Christmas-y for the beach…so there you go.”

“Now you’re playing Santa?” I took the Santa hat and leaned forward, slipping it on his head with a laugh.

“Temporarily.” He smiled then took a long sip of his coffee. “You can wear that today when we go to the beach, or you can hold off…”

“What?”

“I thought we could drive around, see if we can find a not overly crowded beach and grab lunch somewhere afterwards? Do a little sightseeing on our own…just wander around and relax.”

I grinned, picking the bikini up and holding it to my chest as I leaned forward and kissed his cheek. “I’ll get ready.”

“What about breakfast?”

I picked up my slice of toast. “I can eat and get ready at the same time.”

I grinned and bit into the toast, concealing my squeal of happiness as I hurried upstairs to change…and get rid of that damning photo on my camera.

I shut the door behind me with my foot, clicking the lock just to be sure we avoided another awkward moment, and pulled the camera out of my pocket. I powered it on and brought the last half a dozen photos up, deleting each and every single one. The last picture was now a view of the water from the balcony off my room.

Perfect.

I wouldn’t need to give myself a mini heart attack any time Lucas reached for my camera, which he would. He always had since I met him, wanting to see what I’d captured.

I set the camera on my bed and put the bikini down next to it while I finished my toast. I grabbed my spare battery and a baseball cap, my flip flops, my sunscreen. I picked up my tote bag from inside my carry-on and tossed everything in.

I left the red bikini on the bed, slipped the camera back inside its small leather case, and set it in my tote bag and hurried back downstairs.

We stopped by the sandwich shop. Lucas parked in front, and I got out to join him. He smiled at me as he held the door open and we stepped into the air-conditioned store. I went to join the line at the counter and he stood behind me, his hands in his short pockets as he studied the menu. We reached the front and placed our order, waiting off to the side.

“On vacation?” the man behind the counter asked with a smile as he slid across the four bottled drinks Lucas had ordered and the few bags of potato chips.

Lucas nodded, and I put the drinks into my tote bag, thankful it was oversized.

“We’re headed to check out the beaches, any recommendations?”

“All of them are beautiful, depends what you’re wanting to see or do. Some are better for swimming, diving, some are more suited to sunbathing. But they’re always busier on the weekends and days the cruise ships are in port. Luckily, the next day or two, it should be on the quieter side, so you’ll be in luck.”

“Great.”

“Have you gone to Mambo beach yet?”
