I needed to clear my mind. Get rid of the emotions that kept hitting me.
How stupid was I being jealous?
I knew how Lucas operated.
But this was my time with him.

And here we were...
I shook the thoughts from my head—I didn’t want to think, period. I’d do a few more laps, then go into a relaxing float. If I tired myself out too much, I could always wrap up in the robe and curl up on one of the lounge chairs for the night.

Curaçao at night was breathtaking. The stars twinkled brightly in the clear velvet sky as the moon moved overhead. I could lay there for hours just floating in the water, looking at the beautiful stars overhead. It made me feel a million miles away from everything.
Including Lucas.
I tilted my head back in the water. Soothing. Amazing. From the moment I dove in, all my frustrations had ebbed away.
I didn’t know how long I’d been out there, but I was almost back to myself.
I stayed like that, just enjoying the lapping of the water against me. I could spend the whole evening out there.
I let my eyes close, my arms out at my sides, just being—
And then, I heard it.
A splash at the other end of the pool.
I knew, just knew, it wasn’t some animal or a bird that’d taken a dive in the water.
I wasn’t that lucky.
I quickly moved out of my float and started to head towards the far end of the pool.
Couldn’t I get a moment’s peace?
Just one?
I moved further through the water, could just sense he was nearing… I sighed and swam farther away.
Getting out of the pool right now wasn’t exactly an option, either, because, you know, naked and all that.
I should have waited another hour—he probably would have been fast asleep by then.
Stupid me.
He moved effortlessly through the pool, stopping in front of me.
He was adorable in the moonlight, damn it.
I treaded water for a moment, moving backwards towards the shallower part of the pool.
I didn’t know what he was doing there. He should have been asleep. I moved backwards again as he neared.
