Butterflies started in my stomach. Electricity sparked where he touched my hand, his fingers grazing gently over my skin, igniting memories in my mind.I suddenly wished we weren’t in a room surrounded by my family, who no doubt were watching covertly.

“I bet you regret that by New Year’s.” I set my glass down then wrapped my arms around him, closing the distance between us.

His arms pulled me closer yet. He dipped his head closer, his voice low. His dark eyes locked in on mine. “I’ll take that bet. And you…”

“Me, huh?”

“Yup. I’ll always bet on you.” He glanced up, a low laugh escaping him. “Look at that, we finally found some mistletoe.”
