“Wake up, asshole,” a deep voice says, coming from above me.

I shift from side to side and attempt to move forward and fail. Metal cuffs wrap around my wrists and ankles, connecting to separate chains hooked to the wall behind me. They press into my skin as I lean back. My eyes flash open when cold water hits my face.

“Time for you to open those pretty blue eyes of yours.”

“What's happening?” I say, staring up at the masked man. His face is completely covered and he's wearing all black.

“Morning, Sunshine. Sleep well?”

“Where am I?”

“Somewhere no one can hear you scream, so don't bother.”

“Why am I here?”

“Why do you think?”

“You work for Javier Montoya?” I ask, my voice coming out hoarse, my throat aching.

“Guess again.”

“Why not just tell me instead of making me play the guessing game like a damn child?”

“I'd rather not make things too easy on you and trust me, after a few days of being here, you'll miss my little games.”

I spit at him, my nearly dry mouth making it difficult. “Fuck you.”

“You wish. I'd never put my cock anywhere near you, fucking pig. Although I am curious how loud you can squeal when someone's breaking you from the inside. You're pretty enough, so I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem. I bet we'd even get a pretty penny for you.” He kneels down and strokes my cheek.

I turn my face too fast for him to move away and clamp my teeth down on his fingers. He curses, taking a step back. His breathing grows heavy and he lifts his hand before striking me hard across the face. “I'd watch myself if I were you. Lucky for you my boss wants you alive or I would have slit your throat already. I'm curious to know if worthless scum like you bleed like the rest of us.”

“Come near me and—”

He stomps his foot, yanking on my ear. “What? You'll bite me again? I have ways of preventing that from happening. I was never told I couldn't rip your teeth out. I only need to keep you breathing, not completely intact.” He twists his fingers and I swallow back a scream, my ear burning from the pain.

Swinging at him, I miss. “You can't hold me here forever. They'll come looking for me.”

He laughs, kicking me to the ground. “If no one has found the boy yet, I doubt they'll find you.”

My heart sinks in my chest. “What boy?”

“You'll see for yourself soon enough. You wanted to know where he was so badly, well guess what? Now you both can rot in here together.”

“I—”

“You should really be careful about trusting druggies like Menson Gallow. They have no problem quickly switching sides for the right price. Too bad he ended up floating in a river in pieces anyway.”

My teeth clench and I tug against the restraints, kicking my feet. The chains rattle and the asshole laughs. “You aren't as strong as you think you are, big guy. You can stomp and fight all you want, but it won't do you any good.”

“Ignacio—”

“We wouldn't have been able to capture him if it wasn't for you leading us in the right direction. When you took down Montoya, everyone was watching closely, waiting to see who would be there the day he was brought down. The kid made it too easy for us to figure out who he was, so we followed him. My boss has enjoyed his company so much, he decided not to let him go.”

“What have you done?” My voice shakes. “Why him?”
