“Look inside.”

He holds his nose closed and his hand covers his mouth when he moves the tissue paper out of the way. “What did you—”

“I told you before. We don't have to worry about him anymore.”

“Iggy.” His expression grows hard, his face reddening in anger. “I didn't ask you to do this. It could have been done the right way.”

“You and I both know the man was going to keep walking free. He had too many friends in high places and he was never going to fess up for his crimes to anyone. How many people were going to have to die before you got his confession?”

He stands up slowly, the tips of his fingers covered in blood. “Who all knows about this?”

“Only us and a friend of mine.”

“This mysterious man you won't tell me more about?” His hands clench and his eyes are wild.

I puff out a breath. “His name is Gunner, and it's not like I'm trying to hide him from you.”

“Who is he to you anyway?” he asks, the veins bulging in his neck.

“Someone I can rely on. The guy I can call when shit hits the fan and he'll show up no matter what. He's not a cop, so his job doesn't prevent him from going against the law when it's needed.”

His eyes blink rapidly. “I've broken plenty of laws. One being harboring a murderer in my brother's home.”

“Please. You didn't have any evidence until now. I wanted to do this for you and also see how’d you react.”

“More of your little games and tests I see,” he says, kicking the box.

“Excuse me?” I lash out.

“You heard me. I can't always protect you and cover up your messes.”

“You haven't had to. I take care of it all myself and I will this time too,” I say, standing my ground because fuck him.

“You mean you and your bff, Gunner?” he mocks.

I stomp my feet into the ground and shove against his chest. “There is nothing between Gunner and I.”

He grabs me by the chin and forces my eyes to meet his. “Start telling me the truth and I won't have to keep assuming then.”

“I have.”

He squeezes his fingers tighter, stretching out my neck. “I don't think so. You sure you have nothing else to tell me?”

I clench my jaw, my heart pounding. “No, nothing.”

He releases me so hard I nearly fall backward. “I have ways of getting the truth out of you but do you really want it to come to that?”

“I—” I take a step back, my words caught in my throat.

“Don't you want to be Daddy's good boy?”

I nod, unable to stop the next word from flying out of my mouth. “Si.”

“Then you're going to have to learn to stop lying, and if you can't on your own, then I'll have to bring the truth out of you.”

“But—”

“Keep lying to me and you won't get your reward by the end of tonight.”
