A cheerful Regina stood on the other side, smiling warmly at me.

“Hi Arya,” she said, and walked into the house before I could invite her.

“Hi. Tristan and Shiloh aren’t home,” I told her.

“I’m not here for them. I’m here for you.” She turned and unexpectedly hugged me. “Tristan told me about the pregnancy and I couldn’t contain my excitement. I had to come talk to you.”

She stopped in her tracks when she saw Grace. All the color drained from her face.

“I’m so sorry. I had no idea Grace was here,” she whispered to me.

“It’s okay,” I said. “She knows.”

I was still a little confused as to why Tristan told Regina, though. We hadn’t talked about sharing the news yet.

“Hi Grace,” Regina said, giving her a hug.

“It’s good to see you. I’ll give you two some space to talk.”

I sat in a chair at the counter as Regina leaned against the other side, facing me.

“We have so much to talk about,” Regina gushed. “I know you’re wondering why I’m here and how this is any of my business, but our kids are going to be siblings and I’m beyond excited. I wanted to have another baby, but, well, I just couldn’t do it. I won’t scare you and get into the details.”

I must have grimaced, because she chuckled at my reaction. But I recovered quickly.

“Thank you. That means a lot to me that you’re happy with the news,” I said truthfully.

“And we’ll do everything we can to make sure Rebecca and Stephen don’t find out until you’re ready,” she said, serious and irritated. “That woman is a pain in the ass, but we’ve got you. Right, Grace.”

“That’s right, girlfriend,” Grace said from the spot she had been eavesdropping. I laughed.

This was the birth of a sisterhood I never saw coming.

Tristan

Arya’s pink dress swirled around her as the soft breeze drifted through the air. She reached for the hem, holding it down so it wouldn’t reveal what lay underneath as she walked down the driveway.

Her hair was tied at the top of her head, and she had black wedges on her feet. I got out of the car to open the door for her, but she rushed into my arms and kissed me deeply. I steadied myself against the car and felt arousal start to stir, but told my dick to be patient.

Tonight was about connecting and talking about our future together.

“You look gorgeous,” I said as I helped her into the car.

“Thanks,” she said with a warm smile and a wink.

I got into the driver’s seat and we headed off into the summer evening. We drove to the distillery in silence, but instead of the awkward ones in our past, it was comfortable. The music softly floating through the car and the sunset made the atmosphere romantic.

“Won't people see us here?” Arya asked, concerned, as we pulled into the parking lot.

“I got us a private room,” I said and parked the car.

She smiled at me, impressed by the gesture.

“I didn’t even know they had private rooms here,” she said, still smiling.

“I know people.”

She laughed, and it was the best sound I had heard all day.
