Zeus tried to drag Devlin away but had such a hard time restraining him that Zion needed to step in as the biggest brother after Mammoth.

Zion wrapped one of his absurdly muscular arms around Devlin’s neck and said, “Cool it, Dev. We all know you’re in the right. Think about your sisters. They don’t need to see this.”

Devlin’s nostrils flared as he nodded.

“What the hell is goin’ on here?” Annas boomed as his long legs ate the concrete on his way over from the clubhouse.

“The prospect dragged Whirlwind by her hair and said he was gonna fuck her mouth,” Zeus said to his father.

Annas pinched the bridge of his nose. “He did what?”

Instead of raising his voice, or even as much as letting out a sigh, Annas said, “Okay. I’ll deal with Rick, so this won’t happen again. Show’s over. Let’s eat.”

The skin on the back of Demon’s neck prickled as something felt off.

“Why don’t you let us handle it?” Zeus asked exactly what Demon wondered.

Devlin took advantage of Zeus talking to his father and broke free out of Zion’s hold.

Devlin poured all his anger onto his President, “Show’s over? What the fuck is wrong with you?!”

Demon checked over his shoulder, where Nora dabbed a wet towel against Cat’s mouth, cleaning up the prospect’s blood. She’d gotten to him good, as Rick’s face would forever scar since she’d ripped some of his cheek’s upper skin from his face.

“Watch your fuckin’ tone with me. I’ll let this outburst fly since she’s your sister. But don’t test me again. I said we’d settle this on a later date and that’s final,” Annas said.

The club handled things in their own way, but in Demon’s book, there was no time like the present.

“The prospect is out. There’s no other way around it,” Demon said.

He ignored Mud and Mammoth ranting up a storm. A few of the brothers that were headed towards the picnic tables immediately stopped dead in their tracks.

“You think you’re Prez now, boy?” Annas mocked.

Demon checked in with his best friends, Wolf and Zeus. They both gave him a single nod.

“I’m not sharing a club with fuckin’ child molesters. No fuckin’ way. Either he’s out or I am,” Demon said.

Annas’ eyes spat fire. “The fuck you on? He will be punished, there’s no need—”

Never in a million years would Demon ever think of speaking a word out of turn against Annas. Like a loyal soldier, Demon knew what’s expected of him and he loved his role in the club. If he needed to hurt a fucker or even kill for Annas: Demon did it all without questions asked.

Not today.

“Let’s discuss this at the table,” Zeus said in a futile effort to diffuse the situation.

Growing up as brothers under the same roof made Demon’s bond with Zeus stronger than his bond with his other best friend, Wolf.

Demon quickly tried to block the memory of Wolf and Zeus finding him bleeding out in an alley after his father had stabbed him that last time.

Annas promised to take care of Demon’s mother and siblings if he could raise the ten-year-old Demon as one of his own. Demon’s mother had not been well for a long time, and figured it would leave her one less worry.

Annas was the first to notice the darkness lurking inside of Demon. He took Demon under his wing, molding him into a ruthless Enforcer with the sole purpose of protecting the club at all costs and to stand by his successor, Zeus, and their best friend Wolf, as they would protect Annas’ legacy after his retirement.

Demon was about to defy his surrogate father and President for the first time in his life at twenty-seven.

Annas must have read it in his eyes as he swore under his breath.

“Church! Now!” Annas yelled.
