Green came back out of the kitchen with another bowl of boiled water.

“Squirrel will bring you the next one in two minutes,” Green said.

“Good. We need more towels. And make sure they’re clean.”

Green nodded.

Amara stuck one of the towels into the second bowl of water and dabbed away blood from under the wound first, so she could determine just how big the wound was.

She took another part of that same towel and repeated her actions until there was a small wound visible.

Turtle groaned and said, “Just leave this old man be, Princess. I’ve had my time.”

She leaned in and whispered next to his ear. “No fucking way, Turtle. You’re all I have left. You’re like a father to me. I’m not letting you slip out the back door like this.”

Turtle grimaced. “You told your brothers about you and Wolf, yet?”

Why didn’t it surprise her that the old hoot had known about them?

“He’s with them as we speak.”

“Good. Forget what I said about you and him. I know he’s a good man.”

Turtle took a deep breath and said, “He’s been in love with you for years. I guess I was mad at him for not locking you down sooner.”

Turtle tried for a smile. “He should have taken his head out of his ass long ago. You can tell him I said that.”

“You tell him yourself,” Amara said.

Turtle closed his eyes, but she knew he was still alive. It was just all too much for his old body to stay conscious. Amara watched a redhead walk into the bar, carrying a huge medical kit.

“Hi, I’m Kera,” she said to Amara knowing instantly that Amara was the one she needed to work with since Amara’s hands were covered in blood.

“Please help my friend,” Amara said, her eyes pricking with tears.

“We’ll both help him, right? What’s your name?”

The warm, yet professional demeanor of Kera helped Amara in believing they would indeed have a shot in saving Turtle’s life.

“I’m Amara.”

“Nice to meet you. I heard you assisted before, so you know the drill, Amara.”

Amara nodded. Kera’s direct approach reminded her of the vets at the clinic. They all had the same tone of voice under pressure.

“Good. Okay, I need everyone out of this bar except for 6 guys or women who are not afraid to get their hands dirty,” Kera said as she glanced around the room.

Kera cleared her throat when her eyes connected with Ranger who gave her a solemn nod.

“Ranger, Ace, Dragon: you’ll stay. Can one of you get the containers with blood Turtle’s blood type from my car? I need all containers and the IV, thanks. I leave it up to you who else gets to stay here except for me and Amara.”

Amara let Kera direct her for the next six hours as they gave Turtle something that kept him out cold. They cleaned the damaged area, removed a few bullet and bone fragments and stabilized the joint fracture.

During this time, her brothers had come back into the clubhouse long before Wolf stumbled inside. She didn’t had time to go at it with them—obviously—but now that Kera had given her the okay since Turtle was stable, she ran up to Wolf who sat on the couch in the back.

“Wolf! Are you okay?”

He pulled her on top of him, his large hands roaming over her ass.
