“You thought you were just my best friend’s little sister. You thought I would never notice the raging crush you’ve had on me for years.”

I sputtered. “How…how did you know? Was I really that obvious?”

He tilted his head with a small shrug. “Yeah. A little.”

“Oh.”

Theo still cupped my chin, each fingertip a pressure point of heat against my skin.

“I know this is…complicated. Especially when Chase finds out.” He lowered his voice and the rough grittiness in his tone made my belly twist. “Tell me you want someone else and I’ll walk away. Someone who can give you a love story that isn’t complicated. Someone who can give you something better.”

I had the only person I’d ever wanted right in front of me.

“Just you,” I whispered. “I’ve always wanted just you.”

Without looking away from me, Theo slid the door closed behind us. When he turned the lock, my breath hitched. This was really happening. I was alone with a barely-clothed Theo Greely and he was all mine. At last.

He shifted closer, brushing his knuckles against my cheek. I closed my eyes with a sigh. It wasn’t an act this time, no kissing lessons to prepare me for someone else. Tentatively, I brought my hands up, curving my palms around his waist. If I touched him, if I clutched him too tightly, maybe this would prove to be just a dream and it would vanish when I tried to hold onto it.

But Theo’s skin was hot beneath my hands and he was still here. He hadn’t disappeared.

When I opened my eyes, I found him looking at me, his pale eyes steady and intense. How many times had I fantasized about being on the receiving end of that look?

“I want to kiss you because you’re my girl, Haley,” Theo said. “But you have to promise me something.”

I nodded. “Anything.”

“Delete that goddamn app from your phone already. No more talk about dating unless it’s with me, all right?”

I laughed softly. “I can do that.”

“Good.”

Theo cupped my cheek in his palm and pressed his lips to mine. This time, I let myself sink against him, my hands spanning across his torso and up his back. He pinned me against the counter with his hips and the weight of his body took my breath away. It made my skin light up, keenly aware of every inch of him pressed flush to every inch of me. When his tongue teased at the seam of my lips, I gasped and he slipped right in, gliding along the roof of my mouth.

I hooked my hand around the back of Theo’s neck, my teeth grazing his lower lip. I’d tasted him twice now - sharp, heady, and addictive - and I never wanted to stop.

Theo swept his hand across the sink counter, sending everything clattering to the floor. In one smooth motion, he wrapped an arm around my waist, slotted a hand behind my knee, and lifted me up. Setting me on the edge of the counter, he pushed his hips between my thighs, all the while keeping his lips locked on mine.

“Your brother is going to kill me for this,” Theo rasped, kissing his way down my neck.

I tilted my head back, biting the inside of my cheek to stifle a moan at how amazing it felt to have his lips on my skin, his tongue smoothing over my pulse.

“Please,” I said, “don’t talk about my brother right now.”

Theo slid his thumbs under the hem of my sweater, sweeping over my skin in small circles at my hips. Who would have thought such a small gesture would set my body on fire?

He skimmed his hands lower, cradling my hips, before gliding down over the top of my legs. I sucked in a breath when his thumbs brushed along my inner thighs.

“Do you want to stop?” Theo asked.

“No,” I whispered.

He kissed the corner of my mouth, then my cheek, nuzzling at my earlobe.

“Thank God for that, because now that I’ve kissed you, I really, really can’t wait to make you come.”

A shiver of anticipation rippled up my spine. When Theo dragged his hand up my clothed body, I arched into his touch, craving more, craving everything.
