I understood what he was saying. I’d been so preoccupied with my own shit that I hadn’t been able to see the forest through the trees. I’d let my brain space be taken up by my past, meanwhile my present was happening without me.

I’d fucked up in more ways than one.

But now I had to put it right. Now I had to be the man Navy needed me to be. Even if that meant confronting demons. There was only one other place she could be…and if she wasn’t there, then I knew she hadn’t left me on her own free will. It was a stab in the dark.

“We need to get out of here,” I told Lorenzo. “I’ll drive.”

He didn’t let go for a second, just kept looking into my eyes, then he backed away, passing me the keys. “Let’s go, then.”

No one said another word as we all piled into the car. The engine roared to life and I sped out of there, knowing exactly where I was going. It was a risk, but one that I was willing to take a thousand times over to get her back, to know that she was safe, to hold her in my arms again.

“Remy is looking at the footage now,” Romeo told us as I turned a corner and sped down the road.

I knew which house I needed, and luck was on my side because the car was in the driveway.

I slammed on the brakes, glancing at Lorenzo who was sitting next to me. “Ready?” I asked him, but he knew I was asking more than just the one word. I was making sure he had my back, because this could go so many different ways, and I knew none of them would be good.

“Always,” he ground out, pushing open the passenger door.

We all exited the car at the same time, the darkness enveloping us as we strode toward the house of the person who had tried for years to take us down. We were walking into the lion’s den, but what he didn’t know was thatwewere the predators, andhewas the prey.

“I’m giving you ten seconds to get the fuck off my property,” a male voice called out from in front of us.

He was waiting by his front door, a gun drawn, pointed at us, but it didn’t stop us in our tracks. “Where is she?” I growled, picking up my pace. I didn’t stop until I was right in front of him and the barrel of his gun was pressing into the middle of my chest.

I wasn’t afraid if he pulled the trigger. I’d never been afraid of getting hurt. That was one thing my monster had always protected me from.

“Ten,” he ground out.

“Where…the fuck…is she?”

“Nine.” His stare flicked behind me, then back to my face. “Eight.”

“You can count all you want, motherfucker, I ain’t leaving until you tell me where she is.”

His lips quirked. “She finally came to her senses, then?” He laughed, pushing the barrel harder into my chest. “Seven.”

“Do you know where she is?” I asked, but it came out more like a demand.

“Six.” He lifted one shoulder, his lips now turning into a grin. “Nope.”

He didn’t care. This motherfucker didn’t care. My hands clenched beside me, but Lorenzo’s hand on my shoulder silently told me to calm. It was hard though, especially when her dad was looking at me like the cat that got the cream.

“Five.”

“Listen, you piece of shit, she’s been gone all day. Missing. Her car is at the doctor’s office. Her cell with it.”

He raised a brow, his lips turning down for a millisecond, but he quickly schooled his features. “Four.”

“Dante,” Romeo said from behind me. “Remy sent me a video.” He thrust his cell in front of my face, the video playing silently.

“Three.”

“Who the fuck is that?” I asked, taking the cell from Romeo and bringing it closer to my face. I stared at the screen as someone grabbed Navy from behind, then a woman took Dario from her arms. I paused the video, trying to get a better look, but I had no idea who she was.

“Two.”

I flicked my hand out, showing Agent Peters the screen. “Who the fuck is that?”
