James snorted but didn’t say anything. He was either letting me pretend it wasn’t his or I’d hear about it later. When Jaime chuckled, I turned to face him.

“What’s so funny?”

“James sucks at video games. I am assuming he bought that for you and you are bothered by the grand gesture so you’re both pretending it’s his.”

Damn, Jaime was observant. I glared at him. “Shut up. I’m sure he’s fine.”

Jo was flicking her gaze between the bag and James. “I want to see him play.” She paused, frowning. “James doesn’t have a TV in his room, where are you going to set it up?”

I froze. I had forgotten about that. We could play on the gamepad itself but it severely limited the games we could play and it was a pain in the neck after a while. I glanced at James, who looked thoughtful.

“I would say James could just go buy a TV but I’m pretty sure he would get annoyed after a while with so many people going in there. There’s no way in hell other people won’t want to watch,” Jaime supplied.

“Y'all need a media room or something. How can you live without a TV?” I almost shuddered. I missed my apartment. My TV wasn’t huge but I had everything I needed.

“There’s an empty room next to the guest room. We could set up a media room,” Jo suggested. She glanced back at Liam, who shrugged.

“I’ll tell Marcus to set it up.”

I blanched. “Wait, I was kidding. You don’t have to do that.”

Jo waved a hand dismissively, turning her attention to Liam as they discussed what would go in their new media room. Jaime nudged my elbow.

“You convinced Jo to have a baby, I’m pretty sure Liam would give you whatever the hell you want,” he said, his voice low.

I frowned, looking back at Jo and Liam. Jo wasn’t listening but Liam locked eyes with me, a slow grin working across his face. He winked. Apparently I’ve just earned the favor of Chicago’s most dangerous mob boss.

Jo and Liamdidn’t stay downstairs for long. Liam said they needed more practice. Jo was still on birth control, she’d need to go to the doctor to get it removed, but she wholeheartedly agreed and squealed as Liam chased her up the stairs.

James shook his head as he watched them. I figured if Liam was taking a break that James would too. I didn’t realize it would be the exact opposite. He brought me upstairs to rest and disappeared for the next few hours. I had no interest in opening the Switch without him so I ended up watching TV on my phone again.

I laid out on the bed, dropping the phone onto the pillow next to me. I was getting a little annoyed. I didn’t even bother turning to look at him when the door opened.

“I thought you took time off?”

“Sorry, I only intended to check in with the guys, I didn’t mean to work for that long.”

I wanted to be mad but he crawled into bed with me, curling around me, and I felt myself relax. I sighed, wiggling so I could be as close to him as possible. He grunted, stilling my hips.

“If you don’t stop, I’m going to think you’re asking for something.”

I scoffed. “Yeah, right. I’m not going to reward you for ditching me.”

He buried his face into my hair. “What can I do to make it up to you?”

I pursed my lips. I wasn’t actually sure what I wanted, I was just pouting. But since he was asking…

“You could get ahold of Yuri for me. I want him to show me how to hack.”

I felt James stiffen. “Why him?”

I glanced over my shoulder. His face was dark, his jaw tense. I turned in his arms, peppering him with kisses until he relaxed.

“I saw him coding at the hotel. He’s insanely good. I figured if I knew stuff like that, people might take me more seriously.”

He sighed. He looked like he wanted to argue but it wasn’t like I was asking for something unreasonable.
