Jaime grinned at him from the floor. “Is it my fault women love me more than you?”

When Liam drew his fist back like he was going to punch Jaime, Jo launched herself at him, forcing him to either grab her or let her fall. He scowled, pulling her tightly against him. Jaime looked smug, putting his hands behind his head like he ended up on the floor on purpose. At least until James went after him. He had Jaime in a choke hold in seconds.

“We don’t need him, do we, boss?”

Liam’s expression was flat, his eyes narrowed on Jaime’s grin. “I can find someone better to replace him.”

Jaime’s jaw dropped. I was still in the middle of the bed, watching the craziness unfold. I had no doubt James wouldn’t actually kill Jaime so it was more entertaining than terrifying watching Jaime struggle in James’s grasp. Deciding since he brought me a TV, he deserved a rescue, I called out to James.

“James, I’m cold.”

He dropped Jaime immediately, dropping back onto the bed to wrap himself around me. I wasn’t actually cold but it worked in Jaime’s favor and he popped up off the floor, beaming at me.

“Alright, maybe you can have two best friends.”

“Jaime, go find yourself a girlfriend before these two kill you. I don’t want to look for a new bodyguard. It took forever to train you right,” Jo insisted.

Jaime’s eyes bugged out, his jaw on the floor. “You did not train me!”

She raised her eyebrows, looking bored. Jaime frowned, trying to figure out what she was talking about. Liam grabbed the back of his shirt, shoving him toward the door.

“Go figure that out somewhere else. I gave James the night off, I didn’t assign him babysitting duty.”

Liam followed behind Jaime, Jo still wrapped around him. She waved, smirking as they left the room. I heard Jaime demanding Jo tell him what she was referring to when the door clicked closed.

The rest of the evening was uneventful. James refused to open the TV, stating that he’d buy one for me himself because he didn’t want Jaime to think he could get away with shit like that. I made him feel guilty for a minute, asking in a small voice if it was wrong for people to give me gifts, but I couldn’t help laughing at the look on his face. He actually went pale for a second. He only got his color back when I assured him I was teasing.

James helped me take a bath, making a makeshift sling out of a towel since I wasn’t supposed to get mine wet. He washed my hair for me and when I was too tired to keep my eyes open, he bundled me in the world’s softest towel and brought me to bed. I was aware of him putting clothes on me but I was too tired to care. Sean had given me some pain meds with dinner and they made me sleepy.

I woke up snuggled up against James. Someone knocked lightly on the door but James didn’t move other than frowning in his sleep. Since I wanted to keep him with me, I thought it was better that I answer the door. I slipped out of bed, wincing at the stiffness of my sore muscles. I made it over to the door right as they knocked again.

I peeked out, frowning when a very grumpy Jo stood outside the door.

“What’s wrong?”

“Liam went to work too damn early and I don’t like sleeping alone.”

I glanced back at James, who was still sleeping and mentally shrugged. I beckoned her, pulling her behind me to the bed. She raised an eyebrow at me and I rolled my eyes. “We aren’t having a threesome. I’m tired. It’s a massive bed, you can fit fine,” I whispered. I wasn’t entirely sure how James would feel about Jo joining us but I was too tired to care and honestly, the times I woke up alone without James sucked ass and I didn’t want her to spend the morning upset and lonely like I did.

Jo snickered, climbing in next to me. She was careful since she was on the side with my bad shoulder. She hugged the pillow, grinning at me.

“Jaime almost gets murdered by laying in my lap. I wonder how Liam will react to this. You’re a bad influence.”

I rolled my lips between my teeth, hiding my grin. Yeah, this probably wasn’t a good idea but I was going with it anyway. “I hate waking up by myself. I’m not going to let you suffer just because James is sleeping. Get some rest, it's too damn early to be awake.”

ChapterThirty-One

Hushed voices wokeme again a little while later.

“How, exactly, did my wife end up in your bed?”

“Hell if I know. I woke up and she was there, snuggled up with Elizabeth like it was a damn slumber party.”

It was true, Jo had started off giving me as much space as she could but apparently, she doesn’t like sleeping alone either because she was pressed up against my side, sharing my pillow and everything. I blinked, turning slowly to face the men without waking her.

“Maybe you two should stop sneaking off before we wake up then. No one deserves to wake up alone,” I whispered harshly.

Liam shot me a droll look. “Weren’t you sleeping alone up until a week ago?”
