The kiss lasts for only seconds, moments before he finally pulled back even though I had no intention of ending the kiss.

“I’m still mad at you for keeping this from me.” He whispered even though he did not sound mad.

“I’m sorry.” My whisper matched his,

“Forgiven.” He said, “I’m sorry about the tabloids and the probes.”

“There’s nothing to forgive. It was not your fault. Besides, the hospital defended me more than I expected. They did not revoke my license.” There was a big smile on my face when I told him that, and his smile matched mine.

He leaned down again to kiss me, and we were in this position when my front door opened. We both turned at the same time to see Leila standing in front of the door, staring in shock at the both of us.

“I guess there’s no point asking if you took him back or not.” She deadpans and I could not help the burst of laughter that escaped me.

Turns out, the doorman had called Leila because he had been a little worried about me, so she rushed here as soon as she could.

I introduced both of them, and even though my best friend was a little wary of my boyfriend, I knew it was only because she had my back, and it would not take long for her to change her mind about him.

Epilogue

“Don’topenyoureyesuntil I tell you to,” Christian said, and I smiled. His hands were currently closing my eyes and there was no way I could even see anything if I wanted to.

We got out of the car, and he led me through the gravelly floor. After a few moments, he finally took his hands off my eyes and told me to open my eyes. I did not know exactly what to expect, but what I found was way more than I ever expected.

It’s a house. Not just any house, but the house I saw him working on the first time I’d seen him work in his studio. It was exactly as I saw it, and I noticed he’d added every little detail I told him about.

“Oh my God!” I exclaimed, covering my mouth with both hands. The tears were already flowing freely thanks to the pregnancy hormones.

The past few months had been a rollercoaster of so much happiness, sometimes it did not feel real. I’d already given up on ever being this happy after my mother died, and then I met him, and he filled up every single dark corner of my heart with so much light. And I loved him more than I ever thought I could love anyone.

Just last month, he surprised me with a trip to Belize and we went to the spot on that postcard I’d always dreamed of going to since I was a child. He proposed to me in the middle of the ocean with the most beautiful ring I’d ever seen and there was no other answer but yes.

His parents, seeing that he was serious about his intentions of marrying me, came around and they both apologized to me about leaking the news of my past, although, it felt like Colleen had only done it because her husband forced her to. His father was pretty much his doppelgänger, twenty-thirty years from now, and he was not as bad as I thought.

Although I knew I could not easily forgive them, I knew I would try. I was too happy to be saddled with resentment towards anyone, not even Colleen.

Beanie ran around my feet and laughed, turning to him. It was like he knew that this would be his new home.

“How did you even do this and kept it a secret?” I asked in shock.

He laughed at my words and led me through the gates and into the white-painted home to show me around.

Soon, the sharp pain I’d been feeling all day worsened, and a small trickle of water dripped down my dress.

I stopped walking suddenly and Christian immediately noticed too.

“Is the baby here?” He asked, and I saw the fear in his eyes. I simply nodded, unable to get any more words out because of the pain, and we made the hurried journey back to the car.

A couple of hours afterward, my baby was placed in my arms, and it was a girl. It was the single most all-encompassing feeling in the world.

There was nothing quite like it.
