“That’s all I’m asking, and if you can make things up with the Wynter girl between now and then, even better.”

Bloody Wynters. They were more trouble than they were worth.

Chapter Twenty-Seven

Hallie

––––––––

DAYS PASSED, AND Istill hadn’t been able to face my father after the breakup.

I was surprised he hadn’t approached me himself, forcing me to go back to Tam. The only reason I could think of for that not to have happened was that Tam was refusing to have me back. That Tam hadn’t so much as sent me a text message made me think the same thing.

“Come on.” Layla threw a clean towel at me. “Up, shower, put on something pretty and some makeup. I’m not going to leave you rotting in bed, day after day.”

I groaned and rolled away from her. “You’re bullying me.”

“Too damned right I am. We’re going out.”

“Where?”

“There’s an opening of a new club in Elephant and Castle.”

I sat up. “No way. That’s Cornell territory.”

“So?”

“I’m not allowed on Cornell territory.”

She rolled her eyes. “Well, I am, and if you’re with me, it’ll be fine.”

“Layla, what are you doing?”

“Nothing.”

“Is Tam going to be there? Is that why you’re doing this?”
