“You can stay here forever, if that’s what you want.”

I smiled. “In that case, I choose you.”

Epilogue

Jayden Wynter sat inwhat had once been his father’s office and stared out over the London skyline.

His grief for the loss of his father was smothered by his need for revenge. There was no way he could let the Gilligans continue to walk around as though everything was okay. He was angry with his sister, too, for not demanding more of the Cornells. They said they were on his side, but how could that possibly be the truth when a month had passed, and they’d done nothing. If it had been Samuell Cornell who had died in that bombing, they’d have killed Greyson Gilligan by now.

Or maybe the Cornells were just weak. After all, hadn’t Harvey Cornell been murdered, and his family still hadn’t done anything about it. They were receiving letters now, saying that someone out there knew what had happened, and still they did nothing.

Jayden would have torn up the streets.

He wasn’t stupid. While he still had the men who’d worked under his father at his disposal, they’d been irrevocably weakened as a family by the loss of Marlon Wynter. Hallie was essentially a Cornell now, and he was alone.

That wasn’t going to stop him, though. Maybe he needed the Cornells at the moment, but once the Gilligans were taken care of, there was no reason to continue with this ridiculous alliance.

He’d make the Wynter family the most powerful in London, no matter what.

And then, he, Jayden Wynter, would be king.
