It’s a little out of my price range and I wonder what Mabel would think of it. I can see her painting the walls the same color as her hair and I smile.

I want that with her. I want everything with her. Everything feels like it’s happening so fast, but I can’t deny that it feels right. We’ve only been out on one date, but I already know that she’s the one for me. Now I just need to convince her that I’m the man for her.

“I’ll email the realtor to see it,” I tell Ledger and he grins.

“Cool. It will be nice to have you around,” he says and the rest of the guys nod.

It’s strange how well everything clicks for me in this town. Normally I stick to myself, but here I already have friends and family. I might not love all of the attention from other people in town, but Fallen Peak is already starting to feel like home.

“You better get going. Don’t want to be late for your date,” Rhodes says and I glance at the clock, realizing that he’s right.

“Thanks. I’ll see you guys later,” I say and they all wave as I head out of the office door.

“Good luck tonight!” Tilly calls from the kitchen and I smile.

“Thanks.”

She waves goodbye too, her flour-covered hand sending a cloud of white powder into the air. She’s been baking pies for some cakewalk at the school in town all afternoon. Snow, Myra, and Magnolia were here too, and I wonder where they went.

I get my answer when I step outside and see them walking up to the front door with Snow and Wells’s kids in their hands.

“Hey, are you headed out?” Myra asks and I nod.

“I thought maybe you guys had gone home.”

“No, not yet,” Magnolia says with a smile.

“We had to drop off the first load of desserts to the school and I needed to grab some things for the twins at the store,” Snow says.

“Good luck on your date,” Magnolia says and I smile as I head over to my car.

I watch them head inside before I head down the driveway and toward town.

I can’t help but smile as I wonder what Mabel has planned for tonight.

Probably some kind of adventure.

“We’re so late,”Mabel groans as we snag the last parking spot in front of the town diner.

“It was worth it,” I say, grabbing her hand before she can jump out of the car and tugging her back toward me.

She just grins as she leans over the center console, letting me kiss her once. We’re running late because when I went over to pick her up and saw her in that dress, I couldn’t keep my hands off of her. I ended up taking her against the front door. I thought that it was just going to be a quickie but we ended up making out and stealing little touches and kisses as we tried to right our clothes.

Now we’re almost ten minutes late to meet our friends for dinner. Tonight is the first time that any of my friends are meeting Mabel. Maybe I should be nervous about how it will go but I’m not. It’s impossible not to love Mabel and I know that she’ll get along well with everyone.

I’m more nervous to be meeting her friends. She invited her friends, Grier and Anise, and I’m just hoping that they like me. All three of them work together at Snips and from what Mabel has told me about them, they just moved to town a few months ago too. Grier even let Mabel stay with her for a few days when her apartment building was being fumigated.

We head inside and I spot our table right away. Mainly because it’s actually three tables pushed together at the very back of the diner.

“Sorry we’re late,” Mabel says, tugging on my hand as she leads me over to our group.

“No worries. We just got seated,” a blonde-haired girl says.

From what Mabel told me, this must be Grier, which means that the black-haired girl next to her is Anise.
