“Is this what you want?” He thrust forward.

I cried out with pleasure, begging him for more. He picked up his pace, pumping faster, harder, and gave me exactly what I needed.

“Oh, god, Galen, Yes, yes. Don’t stop.” I wrapped my legs around his waist and hooked my feet at the ankles, my hands splayed across his chest.

My muscles tightened around him, on the edge of climax. I felt him throb inside me. His heart raced and his breathing was ragged. He was close too, ready to come and that was enough to push me over the edge into the most intense orgasm I’d experienced yet. Galen finished with one final thrust, his thigh muscles quivering between my legs as the last tendrils of pleasure racked his body.

“Holy shit, that was intense.” He collapsed beside me, panting and slicked with sweat, and molded his body to mine.

“I love the way you make me feel. Making love to you is, I don’t know, I can’t even put it into words.” I wasn’t sure any words existed to describe what I felt for Galen or the things he did to me.

“You’re my mate, Talia. I intend to spend the rest of my life making you feel this way.” Galen wrapped his arms around me, pulling me tighter against him, and nuzzled into my neck.

His warm breath tickled the sensitive skin behind my ear. I laid there, wrapped in the cocoon of his arms and legs, relishing in the love I felt with his body pressed to mine, until his limbs went slack and sleep claimed him.

He needed the rest. I’d exhausted him, expending more calories when I was supposed to be replenishing his body with food and water. I had a sneaking suspicion that he would say it was worth it.

I eased out of his arms, careful not to wake him and tiptoed to the bathroom, inching the door closed behind me. After answering nature’s call, I took a quick shower and then drew a hot bath with the hope that Galen would be awake to join me in a nice, long soak.

But my hopes of a romantic bubble bath we dashed by the muffled sound of snores through the bathroom door.

I twisted my hair into a messy bun on the top of my head and stepped over the rail of the tub. My toes pierced the layer of bubbles, reaching the near scalding water below, when I caught a glimpse of something moving in my peripheral.

“Galen?”

I turned, expecting to see the door open and my mate leaning against the jamb watching me with lust filled eyes, but no one was there. The door was still closed. Everything in the bathroom was the same. Nothing was out of place and I was alone.

Or so it seemed.

But I couldn’t shake the feeling that someone was there, watching me. I stepped out of the tub, wrapped myself in a towel and flicked the switch for the switch to turn on the light bar above the sink, doubling the light in the bathroom. I scanned the small room for something or someone.

That’s when I noticed it.

The lock on the doorknob had been turned sideways, to the engaged position.

“Show yourself.” I gripped the ends of the towel, holding them in place while I spun around and yanked open the linen closet door, attempting to surprise whoever was hiding inside.

But there was no one there.

“Hello, princess.” Hot, acrid breath skated across my shoulder and wafted up to my nose, tripping my gag reflex. “Now, is that any way to treat a friend?”

I turned on my heel toward the sound of the voice, but again, no one was there.

“The master’s been waiting for you.” Fingers brushed my skin, tracing a line from shoulder to wrist.

I jerked back, tripped on the bath mat, and stumbled into the bathroom counter, knocking over the beauty products that Valerie had stocked for me. Bottles crashed against the marble countertop and rolled to the floor. Glass shattered on impact with the tiles.

“Talia?” Galen called out, his voice still groggy from sleep. “Are you okay in there?”

“Tell him you’re fine.” The tip of a knife pressed through the towel against my spine. “Tell him to go back to sleep, or I’ll sever your spine and then move on to your boyfriend. You’ll heal, I can’t have you paralyzed when I take you to the master, but the little prince out there? He’ll be dead.”

I recognized the voice hissing in my ear.

“Darius?” Two many questions were swirling in my brain. I couldn’t focus on just one.

Where did he come from? How had he found the Deofol pack and slipped inside the encampment unnoticed? How had he gotten inside my bedroom? Was he there the whole time, watching Galen and I make love, waiting to spring his trap?

“Tell him.” Darius jabbed the point of the blade into my back, the tip piercing my skin.
