“Sent me directly upstairs to finish our argument and before I knew it, I’d grabbed you and kissed you. Then we were both naked and…”

“That’s all we need to know,” Miles said laughing.

“I still can’t believe it happened like that. I mean what about Nick?” Emma asked.

“That was a mess, he called early Sunday morning and I couldn’t answer, didn’t the rest of the day. He stopped in at the office during lunch Monday and at the end of it he wore the same expression most of the others had.”

“Wow, so the entire time we were gone you two were…”

“Yes, Em we were enjoying ourselves just as we have been for most of the past five months,” she said with a smile.

“You being able to talk about sex without blushing just seems foreign to me.”

“Well considering the first time we were together was ten years ago, it’s nothing for us to feel embarrassed about.”

“Really? You’re dating someone else and yet you spend the night with him?”

“He’s a Southern boy,” she teased.

Emma laughed giving in as Jake lifted an eyebrow towards her.

“I joked that I needed to move back to the south in order to enjoy sex again,” she told him against his lips.

“Only if I go with you,” he countered running his fingers up and down her spine. He leaned his head towards her asking against her ear, “What exactly do you have on under this thing?”

She turned sending him a smile, “Very, verylittle.”

“Not what you should tell me Cee.”

“We’ve done our part, I’ve gotten all the donations I needed to try for tonight,” she said letting it linger.

“Then I’m taking you home, you’ve just been so busy the last few weeks and you need some rest,” he stated helping her up. “Emma, Miles, we’ll see you all much later tomorrow.”

“Don’t do anything we wouldn’t,” he replied kissing her cheek.

“Already have, I gave up a cushy position for one that’ll have half the country yelling at me that I’m a complete idiot,” Jake countered. It took them almost an hour to get out after that, but they were still home by midnight and they were barely in the doors before he was lifting her into his arms and carrying her to the couch.

“This dress has been killing me all night Cee.”

“It was meant to; remind you how much you were giving up.”

“Not this time baby,” he said searching for the zipper. “How do you get this thing off?”

“In a hurry?” she teased sliding it down her arms. She let it drop to the floor and took in the way his eyes glazed over.

“You weren’t kidding when you said there was very little underneath,” he groaned pulling her into his arms as his hands roamed over her.

“No, but you’re much too much overdressed here, aren’t you?”

“Much,” he agreed before she covered his lips with hers and corrected that.

Chapter 10

“Morning,” Jake smiled against her hair feeling her stir.

“Morning,” she said looking up at him with a grin. “Thanks for the shirt.”

“You were a bit cold.”
