I love when he does that.

“Make room, make room,” Alexander’s mom, Aileen, says, waving her hands as we step further into the elevator.

Arthur, Alexander’s dad crowds in with their suitcases, followed closely by Ames and Anthony who both look a little tired from their flight. I know that Ames worked the late shift, closing at the tattoo shop last night, because Alexander had been worried that he might miss his flight.

Anthony’s flight wasn’t that long, but he had a comedy gig last night and then he dropped in at a few open mics. I’m betting that he didn’t get much sleep, either.

It’s super late in Las Vegas and I think that we’re all ready for bed. I know the guys had wanted to take Alexander out for a bachelor party, but he had rejected the idea. He has to keep reminding them that he hasn’t been a bachelor for a year now.

“Are we all on the same floor?” Aileen asks as Alexander hits the button for the honeymoon suite.

“No, we’re up in the honeymoon suite. We put you guys in suites, but they’re on the floor below us.”

“You can’t sleep together! You’re not supposed to see each other before the wedding!” Aileen exclaims and I see Ames and Anthony grin at Alexander.

“Mom, we’re already married,” Alexander tells her calmly, his grip on me tightening.

“You can stay with us,” Anthony offers and I can tell without looking that Alexander is glaring at him.

“That’s a great idea!”

“No,” Alexander states firmly. “I’m going to spend the night with Eden.”

One look at his mom’s face and I know that won’t be happening.

The whole reason we’re getting remarried in Las Vegas is because we’ve heard nothing but how upset his family is that they missed the wedding. His mother has been giving us crap about it for a whole year, so we surprised them with a trip on our anniversary.

“It’s just one night,” I whisper against Alexander’s ear.

His whole body deflates and I know that while he isn’t happy about it, he’s going to give his mom this one.

We hit their floor and I hug everyone goodbye, giving Alexander a long kiss before his brothers pull him off the elevator with them. I wave bye at him and he glowers at me. As the doors slide closed, I grin and blow him a kiss.

It doesn’t take long for me to reach the next floor and I smile as I head into the honeymoon suite. Everything looks exactly the same as it did last year.

I wheel my suitcase into the bedroom, hanging the garment bag that contains my wedding dress up in the closet before I look around the suite one last time. There’s chocolate covered strawberries and champagne waiting and I put it into the mini fridge for later.

I strip off my clothes, deciding on a shower before bed.

I still work as Alexander’s assistant, although we’ve both cut back on our hours. We had left Vegas last year and gone back to New York, but we weren’t there very long. We just finalized plans for the property in Las Vegas before Alexander whisked me away on our honeymoon.

We went to the Bahamas and then to Paris. I think he was avoiding his family because we told them the night before we left for our trip, but I wasn’t complaining. It was nice to be alone with my husband without work or life getting in the way.

We arrived back home in time for Mother’s Day. There was no way we could miss that, since we had deprived Aileen the joy of the family being at our wedding. We spent the day in Philadelphia with his whole family and Aileen had dropped hints the entire day about wanting grandbabies.

We haven’t shared the news with them yet, but Alexander and I found out last week that I’m pregnant. He wanted to wait until after the wedding, or to tell them on Mother’s Day, but I have a feeling they’ll know as soon as I refuse to drink the champagne tomorrow. Plus, Alexander can’t seem to keep his hands off my stomach now.

I step out of the shower, ready to pull on my pajamas and crawl into bed. It’s going to be weird not sleeping next to Alexander tonight. I try to cheer up, reminding myself that it’s only one night. Really only a few hours, since it has to be after midnight by now.

I dry off and hang the towel up on the hook behind the door before I step into the bedroom.

I grin when I see Alexander standing next to the bed.

“Couldn’t stay away?” I tease.

“Of course not. I’ll sneak out in a few hours. Mom will never know,” he says, pulling me into his arms.

“Happy anniversary,” I whisper against his lips as he backs me up to the bed and he grins.
