Declan

My eyes rovehungrily over the curvy little blonde that I haven’t been able to stop thinking about since I saw her on the elevator this afternoon.

“I’m Declan, by the way.”

“I know. You’re from Destiny Falls. Just like me,” she says, surprising the hell out of me.

I study her face, trying to place her, but I haven’t been to Destiny Falls for any real length of time in close to a decade. Even when I was there, I was all about football and working hard toward reaching my dream of playing in the NFL.

Maybe we’ve never met and I haven’t seen her before today. I am kind of a hometown hero, so it’s possible that’s how she knows I’m from Destiny Falls. With that banging body, her long, wavy blonde hair, and those big, blue eyes, it’s hard for me to believe that I ever would have been able to forget her.

“I’m sorry, I don’t remember you,” I say, mentally wincing.

How could this girl not be on my radar?

“It’s okay. I would be more surprised if you did remember me. I was a few years behind you in school and I’ve always been a bit of a wallflower.”

I snort at that.

She’s the most beautiful woman in this whole club. She entered the room and my eyes were drawn to her, like a moth to a flame, without me even thinking about it.

“What’s your name, darling?”

“Emma… Livingston,” she finishes awkwardly and I grin.

God, she’s adorable.

“It’s nice to meet you, Emma.”

I grab for another fry at the same time she does and I can’t stop from smiling when our fingers brush against each other softly.

I’ve been around hundreds of women in my life, but none have ever given me this feeling deep in my gut. None of them have elicited this spark inside of me. None of them have stolen my attention like this.

None have felt like they were mine.

Until Emma.

I watch, raptured, as her tongue darts out and she licks the salt off of her full bottom lip.

Did it just get hot in here?

I want to grab her hand and drag her out of here with me. I’ve fulfilled my duty by showing up to this bachelor party and buying a round of drinks, so I’m free to leave for the rest of the night. I doubt my teammate will even notice.

I look over my shoulder, spotting those mean girls from the elevator earlier sitting with my party now. They don’t even seem to care that Emma isn’t with them, so it feels like we could leave and head somewhere quieter to hang out without anyone even noticing.

“You wanna get out of here? Maybe check out some of the tourist sites with me?” I ask and I see Emma look around for her friends.

She bites her bright red bottom lip, those big blue eyes of hers growing worried as she debates what to do.

I can’t help it. I reach out and tuck some of her light blonde hair behind her ear so that I can lean in and whisper to her.

“I’ll have you back before they even notice that we’re gone.”

Her eyes meet mine and I give her my most charming smile. I’m praying that she says yes. I’ve never wanted anything more in my life. Not even when I entered the NFL draft.

She chances another look at her friends before she straightens her shoulders and nods.

“Alright. Let’s do it.”
