“Hi, you two! How can I help you?” she asks with a big smile.

“Hi, Ellen,” I say, smiling when I see her name tag says Ellen Cupid. “We’d like to get married in your chapel.”

“Wonderful!” she says before she goes over each of the wedding packages with us.

We pick the short and sweet one, and then head over to sit in the lobby. There’s only one couple ahead of us now and as we sit down, Elvis comes out to escort the other couple back.

“We’re getting married by Elvis?” Emma whispers, her eyes wide as she watches the other couple head into the chapel.

“Looks like it,” I say, wrapping my arm around her shoulders and kissing the top of her head.

We sit there for half an hour, watching as more couples arrive and check in. Soon, it’s our turn and Emma bounces out of her seat. I love her excitement.

We walk into the chapel and I take in the cream colored walls and the dark wood pews. There’s a small stage up front and Elvis takes his spot there as a young woman brings out flowers for Emma and a guy around my age starts to play the music.

Elvis starts the ceremony and I take both of Emma’s hands in mine, rubbing my finger over her empty ring finger. I’ll need to fix thatasap.

I get lost in Emma’s bright blue eyes and Elvis has to nudge me when it’s my turn to say our vows.

“Now, do you, Declan Mason, take Emma Livingston to be your wedded wife? To have and to hold, for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do you part?”

“I do,” I say instantly, grinning so hard as I stare down at the woman who is about to become my wife.

“And do you, Emma Livingston, take Declan Mason to be your wedded husband, to have and to hold, for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do you part?”

“I do,” Emma says so fast that the words blur together.

We both laugh and I tug her against me, wanting her lips on mine, wanting to claim her as my wife.

“By the power vested in me and the state of Nevada, I now pronounce you man and wife. You may kiss the bride!”

I grab Emma, cupping her face in my hands as I lower my mouth to hers.

FIVE

Emma

My head is poundingand I groan, remembering why it is that I never drink. I always feel like crap the next morning.

I work up the courage and immediately regret all of my life choices up to this point. I wince, screwing my eyes shut tight to block out the burning light. I groan, rolling away from the window. I try again, cracking my bleary eyes open and stare at the hotel wall.

It takes me a few seconds to realize that this isn’t my hotel room.

Instead of my modest hotel room, I’m in some fancy suite. I sit up in bed, looking around as I try to piece together the events of last night.

I remember trailing after Taylor and the bridesmaids to the limo, drinking champagne and eating that tiny dinner. Then I must have blacked out because the next thing I remember is Declan Mason willingly hanging out with me.

He had taken me around Las Vegas to see the sights. I remember the High Roller and drinking appletinis. A vision of the two of us on a gondola hits me. We had been happy, laughing, with our arms around each other.

Then…he had proposed?

That can’t be right.

But I can remember music and flowers and an Elvis impersonator. Declan said I do and I had, too. I remember some dark haired women clapping for us but then it all goes dark.

There’s only one way to explain all of that.

I must have been dreaming.
