He glares at me, mumbling about bossy women as he heads into the bedroom. I follow after him, taking in the décor of the room.

There’s a white canopy king size bed in the center of the room with about twenty pillows on top. Another plush rug is underneath the frame, making it look like the bed is floating on a cloud.

Two white and gold end tables and lamps sit on either side of the bed, with a long white dresser on the opposite wall. I can see a door off to the left that must lead to the bathroom.

“The bed is big enough. We can probably just share it for the two nights,” I suggest, not wanting to have to sleep on one of the couches.

I could swear that Alexander mumbles something, but I don’t catch it.

There’s no way that Alexander would fit on the couches, either. He’s way too tall, but the image of him dangling over the sides of the couch makes me smile.

Alexander doesn’t say anything to my suggestion and just pokes his head into the bathroom, scowling as he looks around.

“Hey, grumpy grumps, want to go grab dinner with me? I’m starving.”

My stomach growls right on cue and I laugh, heading back to the living room.

There’s a knock on the door and I head over to get it. A uniformed employee wheels in a cart with a metal dome and an ice bucket with a bottle of champagne in it.

“For the newlyweds,” he says with a sweet smile.

I want to tell him that we’re not newlyweds, but what does it matter?

“Thanks,” I tell him, passing him a tip as I close the door after him.

As soon as the door is closed, I yell back to Alexander.

“Great news, honey! They brought dinner to us!”

He pokes his head out of the bedroom, approaching me like a wounded animal and I snort, pulling off the dome lid and picking up one of the chocolate covered strawberries.

I take a bite, laughing as juice from the strawberry covers my lips. I lick them, groaning as I take another bite.

“They’re so good,” I moan, grabbing one and holding it out to Alexander.

He’s frozen, his eyes wide as he stares at me.

What a weirdo.

When he doesn’t take the strawberry, I shrug and eat it instead.

“Want some champagne?” I ask, licking my fingers clean.

“No. Let’s go out to dinner,” he says, swiping the room key off the table by the door and ushering me out into the hallway.

I roll my eyes, used to his mood swings by now.

“I’m really fighting the urge to make you buy me a lobster dinner,” I tell him as we step into the elevator.

He just rolls his eyes, but as the doors slide closed, I can see him smiling in our reflections.

THREE

Alexander

I tryto roll out the kink in my shoulders as I climb out of the town car the next morning. Sleeping on one of those couches was not a good fit. My entire body is sore. Meanwhile, Eden looks like she slept on a freaking cloud.

I try not to glare at her. She did offer to share the bed with me but I didn’t trust myself. Not when I saw what she packed as pajamas.
